She asked herself as she walked around. The was a little nervous. It has been sometime since Yunneth had been in such a large school. She would still be in a private school but...it was the size that intimidated her. That and she felt utterly alone. Yunneth knew no one here...and it felt...scary. And not to mention that she would be in a night school. That in itself felt like a new experience. Even if just a little. The ravenette sighed, looking around the halls as the students rushed off to their home rooms and the teachers walking to teach their first classes of the night.
"Hello? Um...excuse me. H-hey can someone stop for a...or not. That is good too. Thank you, good sir."
Yunneth sighed before walking down the hall.
"Where is the office? I need directions..."
Yunneth knew her class number but not where the class is. She grumbled under her breath as she walked around the halls.
"Class 2-B...2-B. Ugh! This place is so big!"
She fusssed. She felt like she may not get anywhere at this point. How annoying... After a moment, the girl sat on the stairs, looking at her phone, studying the time.
"8:50pm...classes start soon..."
She whispered before laying back on the stairs. For a moment, she just wanted to get her bearings before wandering through the halls. She would find her way. Eventually.
The violet-haired girl rushed through the halls after glancing at her wristwatch for a moment. Classes almost started and she didn't want to be late. Not at all. If she was late, missed a class, and then her grandfather ever found out about it, he would be really angry, and Karen hated the thought of it. For the love of all gods and goddesses, can her grandfather appreciate her efforts? Karen did try her best to balance her education and work, even since when she was still at her old school, which was really hard. It was a blessing they heard about Ryoutei Academy.
It should be this way.., the girl thought to herself as she turned left and continued walking. After a while, she had not find her home room yet, making her slightly upset. Did I take the wrong turn? No, it should be this way, indeed—oh, it's the stairs, so yeah, I'm on the right way. Karen smiled to herself as she saw the stairs that leads to the classrooms upstairs. Her classroom should be near, then.
As the violet-eyed girl walked past, she saw another girl sitting on the stairs. What is she doing here? Karen wondered. Is she lost or something? Oh, maybe I should ask—
"Excuse me, Miss," Karen called to the raven-haired girl as she approached her, "Is there anything I can help?"
As Yunneth sat on the stairs, thinking about where to go, she heard the sound of what seemed to be another female student with violet hair. The raven quickly stood up and wiped her skirt off of any dust and dirt that may have collected. She turned on her heels and gave the girl a bow.
"Uh...yes! I am in need of assistance! I am just a little lost at the moment."
She chuckled nervously before clearing her throat.
"You wouldn't happen to be a student who has been here awhile, yes? As in not new. I am a new transfer student and I seem to be rather lost."
Yunneth explained before looking around, making sure that she did not just over look the class room. It had to be nearby, but she was unsure of where to go. She felt so nervous and really had no idea of where to go. It truly felt troublesome as she was here just the other day for enrollment. She even took the entrance exam and passed with flying colors. But why was it when she was alone that she had a hard time with finding her home room? Bothersome. Truly bothersome...
"You're lost? Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," said Karen sympathetically when the raven-haired girl told her that she was a little lost at the moment.
"I'm a first year, but, yes, I'm not really new here, so I can help you," Karen continues with a smile when the girl asked her whether if she is not new to the academy. Apparently the raven-haired girl was a new transfer student. A transfer student, huh? It seems they're fairly normal around Ryoutei. Like, uh, Karen heard about those students who transferred to the academy a few times already, some transfer students even provoked the circulation of rumors around the school and got pretty famous—not the girl who transferred to her class last month, of course.
Speaking about getting lost around the school, Karen totally understood if someone had such a bad experience, especially if they were new. The building's pretty big, sometimes it got a little bit confusing, indeed. Ah, maybe Karen should admit that she got lost a few times herself during her first week at school. Luckily she managed to find her way in time, except maybe for that one occasion where she missed the literature class—somehow the violet-haired girl hoped her grandfather would never find out about that, though honestly she didn't understand at all why her grandfather would be angry. She didn't have to have a one hundred percent attendance in a class to be promoted to the next grade or even graduate, right? Like, uh, it's only an absence. Only once. Once! It should not matter that much. Sheesh. And I didn't wanted to miss the class at the very first place!
"Um, I'm sorry, but," Karen put a finger on her lips momentarily as she watched the other girl looking around nervously. "May I know which class are you in?"
Yunneth gave a light smile. She knew it happened to everyone. And though she did not wwish it on others, she had to wonder why she was the one of all people to get lost. And on the first day(night) of all times! It truly felt annoying. When asked what room she is in, Yunneth calmly answered, her brown eyes and gentle gaze turning to the girl in front of her.
My home room is 2-B. I am unsure if the second years get a part of the school or if it is organized alphebetically. But either way this is a little bothersome and annoying.
She said with a huff. Yunneth honestly was not expecting her night to start like this. But all she could do was at least try and find her way.
"Also thank you for the offer to help. I know I will really need it.
"Ah, yes, it does happen, sometimes," replied Karen with a slight smile when the raven-haired girl told her that she was alright and getting lost happened to everyone. Not exactly everyone maybe, but yes, it happened sometimes, even to Karen herself. She knew how frustrating it would be, especially if one's in a hurry to a class. Almost every teachers had an aversion to tardiness—it's a minus point for students, although Karen would like to think that it's should be okay if it happened once or twice due to inevitable reasons.
"2-B—" The violet-haired girl put her index finger on her lip again momentarily as she repeated the other girl's home room in a low voice. My home room is 1-A and it's over there... Class 1-B is next to it... "As far as I know, all the first year's home rooms are on this floor," she responded a moment later, "Second year should be upstairs—"
"If you want to, I can help you to find your home room, Senpai," said the young girl after she glanced at her watch. There was still a few minutes left before the class started, so they might have enough time. If they ended up not finding the raven-haired's class in time, at least Karen would have a convincing reason about why she's late to her own class.
Well...she hasn't checked the second floor yet. Well...thoroughly anyway. She hoped it would be upstairs. The teachers were expecting her and the last thing she wanted was to keep them waiting. She is the new student after all and wasn't it the teachers job to introduce new students to the class? When the girl offered to escort her there, Yunneth nodded with a smile on her face.
"Yes please! That would help me out greatly. And by the way, you don't have to call me "Senpai". "Yunneth-chan" is much better. Less formal, y'know?"
She giggled before she begins to walk up the stairs and stops, waiting for the girl.
"I don't think I got your name."
She asked curiously. She checked the clock on her phone. She didn't have much time and hoped she could make it in time. Of course she also wanted to take the time and get to know the first year. She would like to try and make some friends if possible.
"Yunneth-chan?" The violet-haired girl tilted her head, put a finger on her lips momentarily, giving it a thought when she was asked to call the older one 'Yunneth-chan' because it's less formal. A few seconds later she nodded, "If you feel it's better for me to call you that way, then I'm okay with it!"
Honestly, Karen felt a little bit odd referring to someone who's supposed to be her senior informally, but since the other girl asked for it, she could do nothing but agreed. Though, that didn't mean she would never refer to Yunneth as her senpai, especially in the presence of a teacher.
After walking up just a few stairs, the raven-haired girl suddenly stopped, asking for Karen's name. Karen, who was just beginning to walk upstairs also stopped on her tracks as she answered the girl's question, "My name is Hamanaka, Karen. Pleasure to meet you, Yunneth-chan." She bowed politely to Yunneth before beginning to walk upstairs again, each step faster than the once preceding until she caught up with the older girl.
"Alright, let's find your homeroom!"
Honestly, this should be Yunneth's homeroom teacher's job, or any other teacher's at least. For a moment Karen wondered why there was no teacher around, but then she brushed any negative thoughts aside. Maybe they forgot or something... Oh, well.
The raven was happy to know that her request did not come off as too "informal". She didn't want to come off as that anyway. It didn't feel right to seem as if she is above another. Yes she is older and in a class higher but she failed to see what that had to do with anything. It just seemed so...silly. Ridiculous if she wanted to be blunt.
"Well it is nice to meet you, Hamanaka-san."
She said politely as she bowed. Once the introductions were out of the way, they could then get started on finding Yunneth's home room. Just could only hope her homeroom teacher would understand why she was late. If she had to hear "Being late is very unbecoming for someone who earned a scholarship here", then she would going to get ill. Of course...she would need to keep that tongue of hers from saying anything unnecessary. Once on the second floor, Yunneth looked around, unsure of where to go.
"Uhm, this way, please, Yunneth-chan," said the violet-haired as she turned right in response to the raven-haired's question once they reached the second floor. "Classroom 2-A should be over there," Karen added while she was walking past a few unused classrooms, her hand gesturing towards a room at the end of the hallway, "and yours should be next to it—2-B, right?"
Karen just wanted to make sure she remembered the information that Yunneth gave her a few moments ago. She didn't want to lead the older girl to the wrong room—they were already almost late by now, so if Karen made a mistake, both of them would be in trouble, especially if the teachers wouldn't accept and understand the reason why they were late. Well, they should understand—it's not like Yunneth-senpai or I wanted to be late, after all. This is an unforeseen circumstances. Of course, Karen had the choice not to help her raven-haired senior, but since she had been in the same trouble of being almost late to a class a few times before, she just couldn't let the older girl suffered from her trouble alone. If someone had to be held responsible for it, then Yunneth's homeroom teacher could well be the one responsible since they should be the one leading the raven-haired to her classroom and introduced her to the rest of the class.
"By the way, Yunneth-chan," the young girl spoke again as they reached the end of that hallway where classroom 2-A was located. "You can simply call me Karen or Renpii, whichever you feel okay with you." Of course, it's one hundred percent fine if Yunneth herself wanted to keep calling Karen by her family's name. But, since the raven-haired herself asked to be referred to in a rather informal way, the violet-eyed girl felt it would be better if the older girl also called her the informal way—by her first name, or even better, her nickname.
"That is correct. If 2-A is nearby then 2-B should not be far off, yes?"
Yunneth questioned as they walked. She looked around the corridors as they continued to look around for the ravens home room. It was strange to look out a school window and see nothing but the darkness of night along with a few stray street lights in the distance. It did feel like another world. Yunneth could not help but wonder if there were more schools like this one. Just as they approached Room 2-A, Yunneth's brown eyes looked at the other girl, listening as she offered for Yunneth to be not so formal and to use "Karen or Renpii" when addressing her. After thinking for a moment, the raven gave a soft smile and giggled.
"As long as you are not offended, I will oblige. Renpii sounds very cute. I will go with that if you do not mind...Renpii-chan."
Soon Yunneth continued to walk down the hall, seeing her class room just down the hall. And not a moment too soon.
Karen just nodded when Yunneth asked for reaffirmation regarding her classroom's location, while continuing to walk down the corridor. If they were correct about the raven-haired's classroom number and location, then they should be on the right track. The only thing they should wish was that they would arrive on time, because at the moment they were running out of time. If the second year student was late to her class, Karen would be late as well since she would need to went back downstairs—not that she minded it, especially knowing that she had a valid reason to be late.
When the raven-haired giggled and said that she would oblige Karen's request about how she should call the her as long as she was not offended, the violet-eyed smiled softly. She was happy, especially when the older girl said that Renpii sounded very cute and decided to go with it. But when Yunneth added the suffix -chan to it, Karen could not help but stifled a laugh.
She doesn't really need to add that, to be honest...
"R-Renpii-chan... Uhm... I'm sorry, but you don't really need to add -chan... Renpii is already a nickname in itself..." The violet-haired girl paused a bit before adding, "But Renpii-chan doesn't sound bad, I guess... It's still cute, so, I think that would be okay."
The girl then followed her senior down the hall. Just as they walked towards the classroom just down the hall, Karen could see a door being opened and someone coming out from that room, walking towards them.
"Oh. Someone is walking over here...," Karen spoke, almost in a low voice.
Yunneth commented. If she really wanted her to drop the "chan" then she would but Yunneth was relieved when Karen mentioned she did not mind it.
"Right? I think it fits you! Even if you disagree it is still cute."
She would think so either way but of course she would respect the girl and drop it if asked. "Renpii-chan". She couldn't help but repeat the name a few times in her head. After a slight giggle, her attention was caught by the person approaching them. It seemed to be a teacher.
"Are you Sinclaire-san?"
"Uh, yes sir. I was just on my way to your class."
"I was wondering if you had gotten lost. I'm sorry we didn't send anyone to grab you. But no harm done now. You made it at the nick of time."
Soon the teach began to walk back to his class. Yunneth looked at Karen a smile on her face.
"I guess that is my cue to go. But let's hang out sometime, okay, Renpii-chan? I would love to make a new friend."
Yunneth gave a bright smile as she looked at Karen, hoping she would agree to hanging out some time.
That person approaching Karen and Yunneth turned out to be a teacher. When he asked whether if the raven-haired girl was 'Sinclaire-san' (Oh, so it's Yunneth-senpai's—surname?), Karen was just standing there next to her new acquaintance, saying nothing. If she was going to be honest, though, she was somewhat disappointed at the teacher. Like, how could he didn't send anyone to grab Yunneth-senpai? Why not doing it himself? Ridiculous, the first thing he should do before the class is to grab the new student to be introduced to the rest of the class. Yet he simply waited for Yunneth-senpai, wondering whether if she had gotten lost? For the love of gods, Yunneth-senpai was lost!
The teacher seemed as if he did not notice Karen there. As soon as he informed the raven-haired that she made it at the nick of time, he began to walk back to his class without saying anything else. For a moment, Karen sighed. She could not believe she did not get any thanks from the teacher for escorting Yunneth to her class. How ungrateful. The violet-eyed girl was disappointed, yet, she tried to remain calm as if it was nothing big.
When the older girl told Karen that she had to go, the violet-haired girl simply nodded. "Sure!" was her respond to Yunneth's offer to hang out some time later. "I'd love to make a new friend, too—oh, wait a minute."
Karen opened her bag quickly and took out her small purse. She then pulled out a card from that purse—her business card, with her name and phone number, as well as her agency's name on it. "Here's my number, you can text me or maybe even call me anytime," she said with a smile as she gave her card to Yunneth.
"Well then." Karen put her purse back into her bag. "I have to go to my class, too. See you later, Yunneth-chan."
There was a slight bow from the violet-eyed girl to the raven-haired before she turned around and began walking away. She might be late to her own class, but at least the newly transferred student was ushered right on time to hers.
Living La Dolce Vita Life couldn't get much sweeter
@lunaticchicness
When given the card, Yunneth seemed a little surprised to get a business card. Most of the students she knew would have just tore a piece of paper out of their note books or write the number on her wrist. Not that she was complaining. If anything this just shows this Karen girl has a decent job. That was always good, right? She has heard of this agency. Last she heard from her mothers maids, she was working on trying to get some of her clothes to be modeled. Or at least...she THINKS it could be this one. Her and her workaholic mother rarely spoke. Oh well...it doesn't matter. Fashion was something she was not entirely interested in anyway.
"Thank you for the number. And thank you so much for your help! I hope we may see each other again soon!"
And with that, Yunneth rushed off into her class room and stood next to the teacher as he introduced her to the class. A new friend already? Perhaps she really could make it in this academy....
