TRIVIA - Seri is the younger twin, born exactly 12 hours after Izumo. - While Seri speaks standard Japanese most of the time, when she's really sad or troubled, or in private situations, she will speak in Nagoya dialect. She would use the pronoun 'atashi' instead of standard 'watashi' when doing so, as well as referring to the person she is talking to as 'omyaasan'. - There is always coldness in her voice whenever she speaks, even when she softened her voice. - She really loves raw vegetables and tends to eat them anytime, anywhere. She even packed some in her lunchbox. - She tried to grow her own vegetables a few times, but for some reasons, she hasn't been successful yet. - Normally she is excellent at self-control, but when extremely angered, she has little to no qualms about resorting to physical violence. - She usually calls people using their last name plus honorific, unless they are very close, where she would call them using their first name (with or without honorific). - She works as a private tutor not because she needs money, nor because she loves the job, but because she simply wants something to do, and she barely could stand any failure. - Seri always wears her hair in a prim and proper bun, including at home. The only time she would let her hair loose is when she is alone in her room, sleeping. - She is both a kendoka and iaidoka. - She studied business management and was a human resources manager before her grandmother's death. - Her nickname Carbyne-chan is a reference to both her rigid personality and her number in class (carbyne is an allotrope of carbon and believed to be one of the strongest material in the world. Seri's number is 6, the atomic number of carbon.) - Seri is fluent in English and German. She is also proficient in Latin and Greek. - She has two cats named Watson and Crick, a rabbit named Mullis, and a dog named Berg. - She is a regular visitor to the public library. - She is ambidextrous.
Seri was born to a Japanese businessman and a half-German vampire along with her male twin Izumo. As children, both were raised among their human family, who seemed to not knowing that they were not ordinary human because Seri's mother acted like a normal human in front of them and taught her children how to properly control their vampiric side. That doesn't mean they lived a happy life, anyway. Seri's mother was rather strict, while her father was too busy with the family business to even properly care for their children. The rest of the family were not that close as well, except for her twin and their paternal grandmother—a very kindhearted lady according to the twins.
One day, Seri's father suddenly died because of a heart attack in his office. According to the medics, it was a result of overworking oneself—Seri's father was able to escape death a few times before, but unfortunately not this time. A few years later, Seri's grandfather succumbed to a series of complicated illnesses and eventually died. It was said that his style of life that led him to his demise. At the same time, Seri's uncle also got suffered from a severe illness, though he was 'lucky enough to live'.
Then, came the day when Seri's grandmother died. It was because of old age, but it was the one which made Seri wonder about human in general. As dhampirs, she and her twin rarely if ever got sick, their vampire mother were always free from human diseases, while human seemed to be prone to illnesses. Not only that, humankind seemed to be short-living: even those who died a 'normal' death like Seri's grandmother was just a bit over one hundred years old. Very old and long-living for human, but short for vampires. And, when Seri thought about it, she and Izumo seemed to not age normally like other human—at their actual age at that time, they still looked like young adult, or even better, teenagers.
When Seri's mother—who apparently was also close to her deceased mother-in-law and was kind of devastated because the only family member who was kind to her even when she knew her secrets had gone—brought them back to Kamina, her hometown, Seri and her twin were enrolled to Ryoutei Academy. They studied there for a few years until they graduated. After that, both twins continued their study on a higher level with Seri taking courses that matched her interests, one of them being her years old question about biochemistry and genetics.
