Nasain walked down the gallery, eyes wide and almost sparkling as he peered at the various pieces of art. He always seemed to get lost in the art that he looked at, wondering what went through the artist's mind when they painted or sculpted. He carried his camera around as usual, never really putting the device down.
He tucked some stray hair behind his ear and looked at the next painting. A small feeling of awe went through him and he began to wonder if his art would ever achieve the level of artistry that these artists mastered. He stepped to the side to let a young lady look at the piece and continued on his way.
He arrived at the next statue, half tempted to sneak a picture of it, but he wouldn't. He tilted his head a bit, noticing the small things the sculptor added to the piece, groves for the clothes, small impressions for the pupils in the eyes. "Incredible attention to detail..." He mumbled slightly.
Alisa had been studying a lot for college, she opted today would be as good as any for her to take a break from it all. She left her apartment and walked around town. She slowly walked into an art museum. She slowly made her way around, standing behind a guy with blue hair before he had moved away to allow her to take a closer look to the painting. He had wandered away and it wasn't long before she found herself looking at the same art as him once more. The reason was just luck though, she wasn't trying to follow him around, she just found herself standing behind the same art is all. He had mumbled something but she couldn't hear the words that had come from his mouth, but it didn't matter, had it been directed at her she was sure that he would have bothered saying it again so that she would have known. She slipped her cell phone out of her pocket to check the time before placing it back inside. It was nice wearing slacks, it allowed her to dress formal but she still had pockets to hide her cell phone and wallet in. There were plenty of other people around them, trying to get a good look at the art, she stood aside as to avoid being in their way as they tried getting a closer work. "It's beautiful." She stated, unaware of who would be paying attention to her words.
"It really is. Makes you wonder how long he worked on the sculptor, deciding the small. minute details that people could easily miss." Nasain agreed, looking over the piece again. He leaned in a bit before looking back at the young lady. "Oh I'm sorry am I obstructing your view?" He asked, smiling gently at her.
He looked back at the statue and smiled fondly at it. "You never know how much time and effort someone puts into these. It's almost a mystery in and of itself." He chuckled and looked back at her. "Sorry, I get carried away when it comes to this stuff." He scratched the back of his head slightly in embarrassment.
"Though, it's nice to see people in art galleries. A lot of the time these places are almost completely empty." He frowned and looked down at his camera before looking at her. "I keep rambling on don't I?" He chuckled. "Sorry again." He bowed at her and clapped his hands together.
Alisa hadn't realized that he had heard her but she smiled when she heard his comment. "Oh no your fine." She answered him back, not bothered by the fact that he was leaning towards the sculptor. Sure he had been blocking but she didn't see a great need in seeing the whole thing at a time, she could be patient and see it later. Nasain had spoken once more and she found herself listening to him, a small smile was on her face, she didn't mind letting him do all the talking. "It's okay." She tried reassuring him when she noticed him scratching the back of his head. She nodded her head in agreement, "Yeah, it's nice to see others are here too." She noticed him looking down and noticed the camera. "No you don't." She corrected him, not wishing to point out her quietness. "It's okay really." She answered him when she saw him bow his head at her, clapping his hands together. "I don't talk very much so it's okay that you are talking...." She tried making him feel better with her comment. "I'm Alisa." If she didn't know better she could have sworn that he seemed to have a French accent.
He smiled more. "Alisa.Beautiful name. Mine is Nasain Deluna. Pleasure to meet you." He said, bowing slightly and taking her hand in his, kissing the top of it. Okay so old habits die hard. He let go of her hand and stood straight. "The art here is beautiful, I wish some of these pieces had some replicas back at home." He said, chuckled a bit.
"I'm glad I stumbled into this place. I lost track of where I was and found this place. Quite the turn of events qui?" He chuckled and looked at her. "Are you from around here?" He inquired. He began walking again and motioned her to join him. He could use the company, especially with how home sick he felt. He missed the scenery of his hometown of Giverny. He missed his siblings so talking to someone who reminded him of his older sister was a welcoming change.
He paused in front of a scenic painting and stared at it. He seemed to look at the painting, as if imagining what it would be like to run around there. Nasain easily got lost in paintings. A bit much honestly.
Alisa smiled when he had called her name beautiful and then told her his name. She tried pronouncing his name in her mind while he bowed and took her hand in his before kissing the top of her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you too." She answered him back when he had let go of her hand and stood up straight once more. She then attempted to pronounce his name but failed to say Nasain Deluna correctly. She gave him a sad smile, "How do your pronounce your name?" She asked, she really wanted to learn how to pronounce it correctly. His comment of the art allowed her to catch more of his French accent, "Do you mean of France?" She asked, proving to have caught onto his native language. She knew simple phrases, knowing qui was 'yes' in French. He then asked if she was from here, they were located in Japan. "Yes." She answered him, though she had been born in Japan and sometimes got to travel with her parents since graduating from high school she had spent the rest of the time here in Japan.
Nasain had started walking away and motioned for her to join him, she followed behind him, not minding the extra attention that she normally didn't get from other people. Nasain had paused in front of a scenic panting and was looking at it, she found herself looking at him and then over at the painting before looking back over at him again. He seemed focused on the painting and that was interesting enough for her. After a few minutes she forced herself to look back over at the painting as to avoid being noticed that she had been staring at him. "Have you traveled Nasain?" She asked, attempting once more to say his name correctly, hoping that she could say it right at least one time. It's times like this I wish I had picked up another language, maybe I'll add that onto my list of courses to take for next semester.... As if she didn't have enough classes already, she was studying to become a lawyer after all.
Nasain looked at her and smiled. "Nah-Seen." He explained how to say his name easily for the other. "It's not actually French I don't think, so you don't have to worry about getting it wrong." He chuckled and scratched his cheek. He nodded. "Yes. I traveled here from France. Well, first I stopped by England and America, but then I came here so I suppose that is all that matters." He chuckled. "Do you know any cheap hotels around here? I don't have much money on me whatsoever." He admitted with a sigh.
"The house I lived at was in a garden like this. My brother and I would play around all the time." Nasain smiled fondly as he described the memory. His twin sister would join in as well, then it normally turned into play wrestling. He chuckled a bit as he remembered those moments.
"Do you have anything like that? Memories that art or pictures remind you of?" He asked, looking back at her. He figured he could give her a moment to speak, especially after his rambling.
Alisa smiled and tried saying his name again. "Nah-Seen." She repeated, hoping she had said it correctly. "I still have to worry about getting it wrong." She corrected, a name was a name. He told her that he came from France and said he had stopped by England and America before stopping at Japan. Nasain asked if she knew of any cheap hotels around here. "I know of a few." She started but then stopped to listen to him talk about the house he used to live at. It sounded like he had a nice life before he came to Japan, she was pulled from her thoughts to hear him ask about her. "I don't have any siblings." She spoke sadly, "Though I did grow up with a nice garden and some of the art reminds me of that garden." She explained, trying to not sound to disappointed. "Wouldn't it be a bit lonely being in a hotel room?" She asked finally, changing the subject back. "I mean I know of where you could go if you still want to live in a hotel but.... I think you would be much happier if you had others around." She finished, unsure of where the rest of her sentence was going. She lived in an apartment, it was a nice apartment that had her room and a guest bedroom with two bathrooms. Seeing as her parents were lawyers and she was staying in the apartment a lot of the time she felt a great need to get one that looked nice. "I just mean living alone can be lonely." She looked away, hoping he wouldn't get the hint she was speaking of experience.
Nasain smiled a bit to her, but shook his head. There were multiple reasons he couldn't stay with other people, one of which was completely out of his control. "I appreciate the offer you seem to be presenting, but I can't stay with people." He chuckled and scratched his cheek again. "I simply can't intrude." He explained.
In other words, he knew what he was, and he didn't want to risk harming her in any way shape, or form. And there were ways that his nature could make interactions more awkward. "I just need a place I can stay for one night before I start walking again." He explained to her.
It wasn't like he wasn't used to this. In fact he normally slept under bridges instead of hotel rooms. He didn't mind much, he did it all the time when he was young. "Thank you for the concern though. It's greatly appreciated." He bowed a bit to her.
Alisa wasn't sure if he understood her comment or not but he seemed determined to not want to be around others. "What do you mean by walking again? Are you not planning on staying in town?" She asked, clearly confused, somewhat sad to hear he was planning on leaving already. She lowered her gaze when he had bowed to her. "Choosing to stay away from others is your choice." She started, "But I don't recommend it." She felt a need to state as if she believed he was one to be anti social even though he was talking to her. "Does it have to be a cheap hotel?" She asked finally, "I mean... there are nicer ones.... if your... interested." She swallowed, oh yes, she was offering to pay for it. It didn't matter if many didn't like girls paying for stuff, she had so much money and not enough things to spend it on so paying for somebody to have a room and board sounded real nice to her. If she had her way she would try and sneak him a gift.... like an apartment so that he might stay around longer. Why am I giving him so much focus? He is nice and all but I just met him.... Sometimes she didn't understand herself or her actions.
Nasain blinked a bit. "It's not that I stay away from people. I just... I have personal reasons why I can't stay with them." He explained, letting his camera hang on it's lanyard which hung from his neck. "I travel because I love seeing the scenery and architecture of the places I visit. I don't have a job or anything, sometimes I do caricatures for people, but that money normally goes to food. In fact I rarely end up sleeping in a hotel at all." He chuckled.
"I don't like to take things without something giving something in return." He added. "That's why I give them a caricature or a painting of any sort." He smiled. "Sometimes I set up shop for a day or two and sell some paintings of the scenery I do." He adjusted his backpack and smiled.
"Do you mind showing me where the hotel is?" he asked, yawning a bit. "I want a place to put my backpack." He said, noticing they had walked all the way to the exit of the gallery.
Alisa was confused by his comment but chose not to argue with him about it. "Okay." Was all she said on the comment, allowing him to continue speaking about how he travels and explained how he doesn't have a job or anything. More of a reason for me to pay for his place to stay and well.... then I can choose for it to not be cheap.... She thought to herself as he finished explaining that his money normally went towards food and how he rarely slept at hotels at all. "Well you are going to sleep in one tonight." She told him cheerfully. "Well..." She started, trying to figure out what exactly he could give her in return. "I'll let you figure that out, in the meantime..... perhaps company?" She asked, suggesting a possible friendship. Nasain shifted his backpack and smiled over at her, she returned the smile. "Oh yes, I'll show you where the hotel is." She agreed, leading the way, refusing to take him to a cheap old hotel. "If you want I can hold it for you?" She offered, not minding the extra weight, since she had to carry so many books for school anyway. They exited out of the gallery and she turned right, heading away from the cheap hotels, the reason was because she didn't want him staying there but a much more homely one. "Your going to love the hotel that I'm going to show to you." She started, proving that it wouldn't be cheap after all. "I hope it will be okay that I plan on paying...." Since you wanted a hotel instead of staying in an apartment.
Nasain tilted his head as he began to follow her. He blinked, a bit confused about how a cheap hotel could be 'nice'. Her next statement however made him pause in his walking. She wanted to pay for him? But why? He didn't even know her that well. "I'm sorry, but I can't accept that." He said, taking a small step back.
He gripped his bag a bit and looked back at her. "I don't mean to be rude, but I don't really accept charity like that. I never have and probably never will. There is no way I can pay you back for such an act." He added. He truly did feel terrible turning her down. But he didn't like the aspect of someone spending money on him and him not being able to pay them back.
From the day he was born, Nasain was practically raised by his siblings. His oldest sister, Maria, raised him to be a gentleman to ladies, and never treat them poorly. As such, he grew up with the mind set that one should never take advantage of a woman. And to Nasain, a woman spending money on him that he couldn't repay? That was taking advantage of a woman's kindness. That was something he would NOT stand for.
Alisa noticed him pause and it confused her. Was it something I had said? Her question in her head was answered when he had refused her offer and took a step away from her. He claimed that he didn't want to be rude but it took a lot of effort for her to hold the smile on her face as she tried to understand what he was saying to her. It seemed like he would hold his ground on having a cheep hotel after all and there wasn't anything she could say on the subject to change his mind on the matter. "In that case, I better show you to the other hotels...." She changed the subject, walking right by him, headed down another road this time, taking him where it was that he most desired, a cheaper hotel. Thoughts processed in her mind as she tried to understand everything that had just happened, he wanted a cheap hotel for who knows what reason, well it sounded like he couldn't afford any other type of hotel, but not accepting her help in the matter, she wasn't sure if she was supposed to be happy or upset on the refusal. She slowed down when the buildings came into view and one would notice how cheap the hotels looked. "I'm sorry I didn't just take you here sooner..." I was just trying to help...
He smiled and took her hands in his, kissing them gently. "Thank you for understanding, mademoiselle. Nasain let go of her hands and picked up his camera. "I greatly appreciate your kindness." He smiled a bit more, trying to cheer her up in any way possible. He could feel the sadness coming from her.
He looked at the hotel she brought him to and smiled. "This looks perfect. Better than the trees." he chuckled and looked to her. "I hope I did not offend you, Alisa. I just... I don't accept those kinds of things from anyone, so please... Do not take it personally."
He waved one last time before walking towards the building. He pulled his wallet out of his pocket and counted how much he had before putting his hand on the door nob, turning it and walking in. He approached the lady at the front desk and reserved his room. No turning back now.
