What to start off the day after arguing with that Jen person, by text.
Ruki wanted an explanation on what happened last night that he struggles to remember, that’s all he wanted. However, it just ended up with pointless bargains and bickering. On the phone, as well. Of all things.
He wasted his time, but guaranteed he’s not planning to see her ever again. Even if it means on not going back to that bar where she works at. He has to go back there again due to having to put everything on tab. He wonders why did he do that, when he could’ve just paid it right there up front. He had the money for it, that’s why he went there in the first place. Was he that drunk? It didn’t matter now. He figured out what happened sort of, he knows to now avoid Jen if he is to ever see her again, and lastly, never go back to that bar. There are plenty of other bars out here in Kamina, and he can go to any one of them to drink whenever he needed to. The bar where she’s at isn’t the only bar in town.
Walking in the kitchen due to hunger, after waking up and immediately texting, Ruki still had the paper that had her name and phone number on it. There’s no point of having it now, he crumpled the paper in his hand and tossed it in the trash, where it belongs. It’s not like he’s going to miss her, anyway.
Now with that disposed, Ruki can do whatever he needs to do for the rest of the day and hopefully, be less stressed out. Little did he know however, that his sneaky younger brother, Kou was in the kitchen also in favors for food.
Unnoticed. Kou had gone unnoticed by his brother once he stepped into the kitchen, albeit he could have said something, anything of the greeting sort from where he sat. And yet, he didn’t. The idol remained placed still on the counter, chewing quietly on the braided strand of liquorice as blue eyes watched the elder Mukami walk by him. The idol couldn’t quite put his finger on how long he had been sitting there or how many of those red colored braids he had eaten but, the package looked about semi-empty. Curiosity moved his gaze from the other to the crumpled piece of paper sitting right on top in the trash, a tilt of his head he he rocked to the side a bit to reach over and picked up the wrinkled piece of parchment; uncurling it slowly.
Shifting his legs under him, careful to not rip the crumbled piece of valuable evidence he now needed to see since it was so carelessly thrown away. There had to be something incriminating on it, surely.
“Ahh, what is this? A phone number? Did Ru~ki get lucky last night?”
Kou chimed finally, holding the piece of paper between his fingers and tilting his head which ever what way in attempts to read the handwriting. “J-en. Jen.” His brows furrowed now and casted Ruki a now surprised and somewhat skeptical look before abruptly breaking out in laughter. This had to be some kind of joke but if he was getting the world’s paralyzing stare from his brother, it had to be completely serious. Oh, this was too good to not question!
“Ne! You have to tell me everything on what happened!~ Since you seemed to have gotten oh-so lu~cky with the transfer student. How drunk were you? Hm?” He asked, knowingly of where his brother went the night prior. Had his own engagement but that wasn't the topic at hand. Straightening his head and smirking at the other, Kou continued on with his questions. “Or were you actually sober?”
He immediately saw it by the corner of his eye, a pallid hand with bracelets wrapped around the wrists, snatching up the crumpled paper. Ruki shot a glare at Kou as he uncrumpled the paper and read what it has. It was then on from that moment, he should’ve ripped up the paper into little bits and pieces.
Of all questions that are to be asked, Kou decides to ask if Ruki ended up having intercourse. He can’t remember what exactly happened last night but, he was sure that there’s no case of where he had slept with Jen.
“No Kou, now I would appreciate it if you stop and drop this discussion.” He answered his younger brother, “She was just some bartender who served me and nothing else. Besides, I’m not going to ever see her again because there’s no point on seeing her.”
The second Mukami’s laughter somewhat startled the eldest, and he only began to keep picking at him for information that never occurred. Ruki rolled his eyes, he hated when his brother acts like this because it never stops unless he gets the answer he wants to hear. What caught his attention however is that he happens to know Jen; she’s a transfer student. What a surprise.
“For the last time Kou; Nothing. Ever. Happened.” Ruki clarified, “I may have been drunk last night, but I can assure you that any actions that were lecherous never occurred between me and her. I only have her number because she slipped it in and was curious about my well-being.”
Before he could end the discussion, he had to ask out of curiosity,
“Y’know, if you don’t answer my questions I’ll have to assume you did what you did. Then I would have to get a cake and tell Azusu and the brute about the sudden loss of your v-card.” Kou mentioned as his laughter died, almost saying like it was in passing as he tilted his head again at the piece of paper in hand. Reading the number quickly before waving the paper in the eldest direction with a small smirk playing at the corner of his lips.
Was there need for this kind of thing? Definitely not. Would that mental answer actually have stopped the idol from doing this little act of pure, unadulterated pettiness? Ab-so-lu-te-ly not! This was as much entertainment as he was going to get during the daylight hours and especially out of his all to uptight brother. Uptight about certain things but what did Kou actually care?
“If she was just some bartender, ne, why would she care about your wellbeing? Of course unless she wanted to get something out of it.” Kou mused, humming a bit and folding the paper to keep in his hand. He couldn’t just let it get snatched when the timing was perfect and the attention wasn’t placed upon it accordingly.
“I thought three was the last time? It’s only been two so far and I still need to know what you know—can remember about what you did last night. It’s the only way to get me to stop, Ru~ki.” He giggled, raising a take another braid of candy into his mouth and chew on it as he kept his gaze on his older brother. As much as the other would clarify, the blond wasn’t going to just stop his little means to gain information from him but he did have information himself.
“That’s my secret and I won’t share how until you tell me something.” He winked, bringing a finger to his lips well more like against the candy and his lips.
Can Ruki’s irritation get any worse? With Kou keeping up with this like a nosy drama teen, it’s guaranteed possible that it can. He pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing deeply.
“Explain to me about why my sexual history is so important to buy me a cake in celebration? You’re only wasting your time on getting information that’ll be false because I didn’t do anything obscene.” Must Kou make a big deal out of this situation? This isn’t the time to get up in Ruki’s business. Can tomorrow start any time sooner?
“She was only concerned because according to her, I was drunk and not myself at all. There’s nothing intimate between us. Do you honestly believe that I would throw myself upon some random promiscuous woman that I do not and will not know? And at her job while at it?” He raised a brow at his younger brother, who still kept that cheeky and mischievous smile. Whenever something like this happens, the wheels in Kou’s brain begin turning, making any scheming plans on how to annoy the eldest in many ways possible. The results after the plans are not pretty.
He should’ve never left the manor that night. He should’ve never made the decision to go out, and drink his problems away. This could’ve been avoided if he had just stayed in his room, and go to bed, or at least read his book to calm himself down before sleep. Why did he have to leave the mansion? Why did he let loose and get himself drunk?
Why did he have to meet Jen in the first place?
If he wasn’t so restrained, Ruki would slapped the candy braids out of Kou’s hands. It’s that playful, teasing attitude that’s driving him insane because he can’t exactly justify himself. If he could only just remember everything from last night. Since the eldest Mukami can’t clarify that nothing intimate happened, he needed a second person to confirm. That second person has to be her since she’s the one who knows everything that happened. Without her word, Kou will be at this all day, and Ruki won’t hear the end of it.
Now he’s being secretive, b-e-a-utiful. It’s like dealing with Jen’s bargain except Kou isn’t going to tell how he knows about her.
“Fine, I’ll tell you what, Kou. I can assure you that if you ask her about it, she can confirm nothing happened. You can go ahead and talk to her and she’ll give you the whole story. I may not remember, but she does. If she confirms that nothing happened, you’ll tell me what you know about her.”
Kou shot Ruki a distrusting look. “You don’t do anything obscene?” He chuckled. “The last time I checked having a leather sex dungeon and a collection of erotica is also considered obscene, Ru~ki.” The idol shrugged and glanced downward to the counter he was sitting on to make sure he was picking up the right candy into mouth. “But I suppose you think you’re the purest of us all, right? Hm?”
“The cake is ab-so-lu-te-ly necessary for such a celebration, if it finally happened.” Kou said, slightly waving about the twizzler. How much worse could he make this? Tell him of the bet between him and the rest of his brothers on how long it would take? Oh, no that would stay between the three. He didn’t want to get throttled, if he could catch him once he was out of the house, he wasn’t about to test that. There were things to do that didn’t include doing exactly that. For now. He arched a brow to the statement of the other, not sure whether to shrug or, well say something to on the state of the entire matter. Where was the hurt in any of it?
So he shrugged, keeping blues eyes on the other before he opened his mouth. “Eh? And if I told you yes? You do sing while you’re drunk.” Terribly. He shuddered a bit and shook his head a bit. “I could believe anything up to know. You were drunk, surely and what more could there be especially if you just dragged her off while on break. Some dingy bathroom or clean.” He wouldn’t have known, his scenes were lounges and the clubs. Bars smelled mostly of stale beer and older men, if not fat or fatter in there.
Gross.
The idol smiled more at the elder as he moved his hands to clasp around his ankles and rock a bit, awaiting his answer from him. And what was that? Silence? Silence of not being able to recall anything of night prior. He was half tempted to shoot a victorious smile to the stalemate at hand. Giving a tilt of his head and confused expression, he almost pouted toward Ruki. “Eh? Does Ruki not have an answer for me? Ahh, how bo-rr-ing! And hear I thought you could recall everything. The mind that never forgets.~” Another smile in the playful tone that came with it.
Oh? Permission to talk to this girl? Ahh, what a mistake.
Kou outstretched his hand to Ruki and wiggled his fingers in a ‘give me’ motion. “So, give me your phone and I’ll ask her from that.” He stated before noticing that he was still hold the candy and promptly placed that back on the counter; placing his hand back out towards the elder. “Ne, you honestly don’t think she’ll pick up for my number?”
He’s really going to keep up with this, is he? Then again, this is Kou he’s talking to. Kou, who’s usually petty like no other, probably the most petty he’s ever met and he has been tolerating with that behavior. For years. Ruki stayed calm, but the urge to punish the idol is very tempting.
“I can ask the same thing about you, Kou. It’s not like you’re any purer. Besides, I didn’t say I don’t do anything obscene, I said I didn’t. Meaning last night, I didn’t do anything.” He corrected his younger brother, “I think your music’s getting to your ears, might have to get them checked some time, soon.”
What was with this whole idea of celebrating him, specifically him? Has this been something going on between his younger brothers behind the eldest’s back?
“And pray tell, why is my virginity so important at the moment?” The more Kou kept up with this, the less patience Ruki has, “You’re disgusting. Just because I was gone for a while and that girl’s number happens to end up in my pocket, doesn’t mean anything intimate happened between us. I’ll admit that sounds bad, but still I am sure she’s professional enough at her job to not make that decision.”
He watched Kou gesture him to give him his phone; is he serious about this? The outcomes that can possibly happen if he decides to give the idol his phone. Who knows what sort of tricks he’s got in mind, knowing how unpredictable he is. Also, he did argue with Jen through text, so the chances of her answering back since she'll now recognize him number, is possibly slim.
“She seems to answer any anonymous number. You have your phone, use it. I am not going to give you mine.”
“I never said I was the purest, but if you ask, I don’t think you’d want to sit through it.” The idol mused, nonchalantly. “Eh? How would you know that if you don’t remember anything?” He asked, now rolling his eyes at the thrown comment by Ruki. Ears checked, ha. Kou only made a point not to point out the term didn’t but guess he was wrong for remaining within the boundaries for avoiding an argument. He almost felt hurt. Almost. “Ahh, maybe you should, too since you’ve been to maybe three of my concerts. And who knows the damage that has on such sensitive ears.”
There was always a point to celebration. Why need a special reason to celebrate than this very one here? If it didn’t happen, even then there were cakes to get and things to plan out. If not, then it would just be a party for the sake of well, partying. There were people to invite and people would show up especially if he invited them, give or take a few who may need coaxing, but that wasn’t the point!
“Eh? Why would it not be? It might make you loosen up a bit maybe and not read the same book over and over again. You do look a little lonely, Ru~ki.” Kou mused, shoot his elder brother a look and an arched brow with a mild gesturing with the candy. For a split second, the smile dropped into a flicker of anger across his expression. ‘Disgusting?’ the thought rang clear, louder than many more and the flash of memories choked down from those bastards in his childhood. There was no way he was going to let this happen now, not when he was amused seconds ago and the momentary shudder of fear ran along his spin.
The idol shook his mind of the thought coming with the numbing feeling burning the side of his eyes and brought the bright smile back to his expression. He couldn’t just back into the corner of his mind right now. “Says you who may as we almost pegged liking the male variation, ne. And you already said it, it already sounds bad. So much how much worse could it get if you decide to caboodle.” He giggled lightly at the use of the word. “With this girl. Nothing wrong with a one night stand and I only want to know the details.” Kou laughed again and leaned back to sit up straight. “As if you would know that minor details.”
“Just give me your phone! If she doesn’t pick up, you can have it back!” Kou exclaimed keeping his hand out and small pout forming on his lips. “And you don’t know that, so I will use your phone and it’ll be so much better to call with. Not like I’m going to look through it.” Kou rolled his eyes, saying nothing about his own phone for this particular reason. Just wanted to Ruki’s phone and maybe look through it when he got his answer properly.
The eldest looked at his brother in disgust, “Spare me the details, Kou. I do not want my brain branded with mental pictures about my own brother and his sexual history.”
Still, the blond wasn’t going to stop. He wants to know, no matter how much he’s going to provoke him, in order to get a word out of him. Seriously though, Ruki didn’t feel at all different from anything, last night. There’s nothing to really say, unless Jen has been keeping something in secret. That’s still beyond sickening, to just copulate her while she has a job to do. Even while drunk, Ruki doesn’t believe he’d be in the mindset to just throw himself upon some woman he just met.
“For your information Kou, I’m sure my ears are fine hearing. Ask that question to yourself after how many concerts you’ve done.”
He wanted to pretend to not hear that, has he forgotten after how long?
“Not only are you probably deaf, are you also absentminded? I believe you know how much this book I’ve so read multiple times is very much dear to me. I would’ve expected such a comment from someone else, but not someone who’s known me ever since that day.” Ruki isn’t one to express his emotions, but even with just that default tone of voice he has, it’s enough to express how much of an insult some personal comments can be to him.
Ruki knew he hit Kou to where it hurts. He knew that the “disgusting” remark offended him. It’s not a pleasant feeling, he understands that but at this point, the more Kou keeps up with this, the more Ruki will not hesitate to say more personal things. However, he knows when to stop, he’s know his limits on not insulting his brothers in cruel ways that could break their relationship. It’s the idea if Kou knows his limits as well.
He glared at the idol with stern eyes, just seriously?
“I know the type and gender I prefer and interested in, and honestly, it just takes patience to find this said person, Kou. Not just some immediate event. For now, she’s none other than a typical woman who likes to be salacious on others, and I’m not the one who would fawn over someone like that.” He crossed his arms, “There’s no other ‘special’ info that you’re so curious about.”
His patience thinned and he’s just about had it with Kou’s whining,
“You know what, fine. Since you’re apparently the so-called expert of this, take it. I can assure you, you’re not gonna be ecstatic with the results.” He handed out his phone to his brother. Might as well just get this over with and prove to him that nothing happened. He’s sure that he’s going to be hyped for nothing.
“If I was going to give you explicit detail into my… fun expeditions, I would have done it already Ru~ki.” Kou made the roll his eyes obvious to his elder brother’s statement. Those weren’t details he was just going to share with anyone, if anyone at all albeit if he was seen walking around the manor in a better mood than what was normal his demeanor, it could have been one of two things: he had exactly what one was thinking and it was perfectly extraordinary, or his sales were at an all time. It was safer for all to assume that it was the latter rather than the former, just to spare all from the imagery. Especially his brothers.
The twinge that pulled at the back of his head, body ready for the relapse to occur—the call of crumbling. Words playing on repeat through and through for the moments while he thought on something. It was the comment of absentminded, that wasn’t something that was going to bother him as much as the word ‘disgusting’ did. The chill tumbled down his spin and he almost visibly shuddered as it did. Of all people, Kou hardly expected the eldest to use the word against him but it was Ruki and it was hardly a sin to expect less of him.
But it was this specific comment that he knew would course through him and slowly eat away at the playful demeanor, façade. That could wait ‘til he was in his room to happen. Right now, he wasn’t going to let the elder Mukami win.
“I only had the intention to keep your precious memento from falling to piece with how often you flip its pages, time and time again. Unless you want it to fall apart, ne?” Was all he said in response to that as a while, moving his hand to grave another braid of candy. Nonchalantly chewing on the piece of red candy before he gave his brother a rather ungraceful snort to his statement. The idol gave him a head tilt one could only warrant coming from a cat of sorts. Pupils narrowed and eyes bright.
“Uh huh. Of course, Ru~ki.”
A happy chirp left the blond at the permission to use the phone and it being placed into his hand. Glancing at the phone and unlocking it without much difficulty. “Ahh, you need to update to the latest phone.” He murmured into the phone as he looked through for the specific number, finding it quickly. Tucking his hair behind his ear before he put the phone to his ear, listening to it ring and tapping a new piece of candy against his lips. It rang once, twice, three times. On the fifth one, it went straight to voicemail. Oh well, there went that. He ended the call and put the mobile device on the counter between him and his elder sibling.
“Mm, maybe she’ll call back when she sees that you called.” Here’s the actual wishful thinking.
He wasn’t going to comment on that at first, but as usual, due to Kou’s tone of voice that can either attract a simpleminded girl or annoy the hell out of someone who manages to understand how he can be, Ruki pinched the bridge of his nose,
“As I’ve said before, spare me the details.”
Maybe another drink could’ve been of great use right now, so that Ruki could have forgotten all about this conversation. No, no, as if that’s any better. Kou would never let him hear the end of it. Just like how it’s possible that he’s not going to hear the end of this subject, if it’s not settled and done with. Besides, the eldest can’t really punish the blond for this behavior; it’s only just typical teasing. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not annoying to him and he can definitely confirm that; he’s live with his brother...for years.
“Worry more about your personal belongings, Kou. For your information, I actually make sure this personal item is in special care so that something like that doesn’t happen, any time soon.” Yes, it’s true he’s read that memento, very frequently. To the point where the pages are practically wearing out. Surprisingly, it’s not enough to where there are going to rip apart, for now. So...must Kou need to tease him about it? The answer; yes due to the fact, that it’s Kou. If anyone looks in the dictionary, and finds the word “petty”, they should be able to find one of Kou’s selfie pictures on the page, and it's taking up a full page. The definition of petty is literally just a full paged picture of Kou that's labelled by that word in big, bold letters. No other words to give out the details, just a selfie because that’s all the information everyone needs.
“I heard that.” Ruki remarked about Kou’s muttered sentence. For the idol, everything needs to be up to date. Ruki couldn't care at all about it, but Kou wants to make sure everything is on the latest update, technologically. The latest and the most expensive stuff, or Kou is going to flip and whine about it. Or insult you, either way, you have to have the newest stuff.
Oh please. It’s either she’s not near her phone, or she saw that it’s Ruki’s number and immediately made the decision to let it go to voicemail because Ruki irritated her via text. Not that he’s going to complain about it. Though, one last conversation would be appreciated so Kou can get off his brother’s back about this. Just one confirmation that nothing vulgar happened, and it’s done. Ruki won’t have to hear from her and Kou can go tease somebody else.Who’s he kidding? Kou’s still going to tease him, every now and then. That’s inevitable.
Honestly, giving Kou the phone wasn’t a great idea. If anything, he should be the one to talk to her and not his brother. Well she didn’t answer, but if she does call back, he’s taking that phone from the idol.
“Listen Kou, I don’t know why this is such a big deal to you. But if she dares to call back, it would be of great appreciation that you…”
Interrupting his sentence, the sound of his phone ringing came suddenly. That has to be her. The phone’s right in the middle, between Ruki and Kou, and either one can reach for it. Ruki stared at Kou’s bright blue eyes; there’s that face that’s already saying mischief. No, he has to get that phone.
Ruki immediately went for his phone, only to see his brother do the same, however. Oh great, a race for the phone in the middle of the counter. How ridiculous can this be?
