It was another usual, busy day for Seri. At least, it seemed so—except that she didn't really plan to do a certain thing. The dhampir didn't intend to visit the shopping center because she has quite a lot of works, including some laboratory works. However, when she was preparing her stuffs, she realized that she had forgotten to buy some new notebooks when she bought some stationery items the day before. The young woman then decided to run a quick errand before she go to the university, since she really needed a new notebook for today—there's no way Seri would mix lab books of various courses. She even dedicated a book for each subject's notes.
The tall blonde sighed as she picked up some B5-sized notebooks from one of the shelves. It was unusual for her to forget things and she honestly disappointed at herself for such a failure. Seriously, that is unacceptable. Anyway, I need to finish this quickly—where's the letter-sized ones? Oh, there they are.
Sighing once again, Seri quickly turned to the other shelf. Alas, she didn't realize there was someone nearby until she got very close, causing her to almost bumped into that person—almost.
"Oh, I'm sorry," the blonde quickly stepped aside and apologized politely, although her natural voice made it sound somewhat less apologetic.
There were days where business had to be taken care of because it was necessary and had to be done. This just happened to be one of those days for the oldest of the Mukamis. It was not always often for him to be at the shopping center unless he had to be there for himself and his brothers. Usually while at the shopping center, Ruki's purpose on being there would be having to get anything garden related for his younger brother, Yuma or if there wasn't any vegetables left. Most of the things his other brother, Kou would need, he would bring him along since Kou knew exactly what he wanted and Ruki didn't need to hear his whines if he had gotten the wrong item. As for the youngest, Azusa...it mostly dealt with knives which leads to sometimes a messy result and also spices which seemed almost unnecessary.
While here, Ruki went to collect some school supplies he needed for an upcoming school project. Better to get it done than never, correct? He mostly needed notebook paper and books for sources. The project was fairly simple and he knew he would be done in no time by the time he got what he needed. Though he found it rather annoying that he needed to buy sources for this project since it seemed rather a waste and he didn't have anything that was relatable to the project.
Arriving to the aisle where most of the school supplies were located, the male vampire scanned through with his eyes to find what he needed, he didn't pay much to anyone who was also there until suddenly he was bumped into by a blonde female. A bit irritated but still kept the calm look on his face, Ruki eyed on the female to take a complete glimpse of her. She stepped aside and apologized to him, though it didn't sound like she was sincere about it much to the elder Mukami's concern. Ruki just glared at her, he sensed that something wasn't exactly human about her but he didn't give it a lot of thought.
"If you're going to be disrespectful about it with that tone of yours, then don't apologize unless you truly mean it." Ruki responded, assuming she wasn't true to her apology, "Next time focus on your surroundings before making a move." Despite the calm sounding of voice, he was very blunt and cold on his wording.
If Seri had to be brutally honest, she was really embarrassed to commit such a trivial mistake. Usually she was keen about everything, being someone who strives for total perfection, but today she already committed a few mistakes that her usual self wouldn't even forgive. The accident that just happened a moment ago was the most embarrassing one in her opinion, but her embarrassment quickly shifted into annoyance when the man she bumped into accused her for being not sincere with her apology. Tch—how rude. What does he know, hm?
"Is it necessary to make such a commentary?" The blonde asked while picking up a notebook from the shelf and checked whether if it's the one she needed—the letter-sized one. "If I didn't really mean it, I wouldn't apologize," she added a few seconds later, matter-of-factly. Seriously, Seri was not the type of person who will say things when she didn't really mean it. Well, most of the time. However, every time Seri speaks, there's always this cold tone to her voice, no matter how she tried to soften it. And this man was trying to criticize her on that? That's unacceptable.
"Anyway, thank you for the suggestion," the dhampir spoke again while collecting a few more notebooks. "If I may suggest something to you as well, next time please try to refrain from commenting on something you don't know." Sighing inwardly, Seri turned, her eyes cast a cold glare at the male as she walked past him. "Unless you are the type who loves to comment on almost everything, even when you should not."
As usual, there was always that same reaction of offense from others every time Ruki had 'lectured' them and it never bothered him at all since most actually learn from it, thus, proving his point that they shouldn't exactly be all that offended. This woman's logic was rather odd, she first took an offense to it, then tried justifying herself and suddenly, thanked him, afterwards. It was almost confusing at that point.
The elder Mukami just made a glance at her with his piercing blue-grey eyes, "You speak as if you were insulted by my words but yet you thank me for the suggestion." He spoke in rather a monotone, "You just made your act of offense empty and thus, proven that my commentary was necessary." He narrowed his eyes at her and then turned his face away, continuing to skim on through the aisle to search for what he needed, "If you were truly offended, you wouldn't have thanked me but it is shown that you didn't seem that way." He added more to his sentence.
While looking through the school supplies, Ruki heard the blonde's suggestion for him about him commenting by assumption. The audacity that she had, thinking she can have any right to just tell him what he should or shouldn't do. Admittedly, it was rather bold of her but of course, the vampire wouldn't let his pride down by just a few mere words from someone who tried to act as superior as him, "I do not need to take your suggestions as an adjustment for myself. I could honestly care less about it as your words mean nothing to me." He responded, not looking at her but instead, looking on through the supplies. He finally found the stacks of notebook paper that he needed, grabbing them and placed the stacks between his side and right arm.
Tch. What's with this guy? First he accused Seri of being insincere with her apology just because of her speaking tone, then he justified his commentary, saying that it was necessary indeed because Seri thanked him for his suggestion. Who said that Seri was really thankful for it, anyway? She didn't—she was truly offended by his words, and that was a rare example where Seri didn't really mean what she said, although she must admit that she did actually cursed and reprimanded herself inwardly about being unobservant about her surroundings since normally such a thing would never be tolerated by herself. She even felt really embarrassed, though of course, Seri wouldn't show it right away.
Showing embarrassment is embarrassing in itself. A weakness. Unacceptable.
The blonde dhampir continued glaring at the male as he speaks. She gritted her teeth as a response to his claim that he doesn't need to take Seri's suggestion since it means nothing to him. "I didn't say that you have to accept it," she replied rather flatly before turning away her face, looking definitely unamused. Hell, this guy is really a brat. He made comments by assumption, justified them, and yet he refused to take other's suggestion. And it seems that he think of himself as if he is the only right party here? What an arrogant jerk. Seri already hated him even though they had just met. She could only hope that they would never meet again somewhere, someday. One is enough already, for whatever's sake.
Holding the notebooks against her chest with both hands, Seri glanced at her watch. It seemed that she was almost running out of time—she got to pay the stuff in her hand and go as soon as possible. Else she would be late and Hamanaka-sensei wouldn't be impressed. Being late also would ruin Seri's image in front of her classmates. That would be unacceptable.
"Excuse me, I'm done wasting my time with you," was Seri's final words before she walked away.
The dark haired Mukami heard the woman tell him. "Then why make a suggestion in the first place?" He asked, getting fairly annoyed with the blonde's attitude towards him, "You could've saved yourself some time by just keeping your mouth shut yet you decided to waste both of our times by not saving your breath. Unless you're the kind that likes to suggest things and not be sincere about it." He took another glance at the female, she didn't seem to look at all familiar as being a student in Ryoutei Academy but then again, Ruki never exactly paid attention to any student at his school unless it was his brothers, Yui Komori or even the problematic purebloods of the Sakamaki family. The blonde couldn't be a middle schooler since she didn't look all that young. Possibly a college student? It shouldn't even matter since he didn't even know this person at all and already she just has an atrocious personality in his opinion.
He got what he needed and heard the girl passing by him, giving him a very rude farewell. She had the right to be mad since he did after all offend her but that didn't occur to Ruki and he didn't care if she was offended or not about his words. He believed he was right on what he said and that was final. Before she completely walked away from the elder Mukami, Ruki spoke again, "To be frank, you have wasted most of your time. You did all of that by speaking more to me and had you taken my word, you probably would have gotten what you needed and left a while ago."
Seriously, this guy is a pain. A headache, more than nearly all people she knows combined—Seri might be a little bit exaggerating here, but, really, Seri was already having a massive headache here. The man—who could be something else than an ordinary human due to something the dhampir sensed—was like a brick wall. No matter what Seri said, he just kept being defensive and retaliated much to Seri's annoyance, especially when he told the blonde that she could save both of their time if she just kept her mouth shut and mentioned something about being sincere—again.
"I wouldn't say things I didn't really mean," the dhampir answered without even looking at the man. "But it's up to you to accept it or not." Her voice was very calm, but the usual coldness still emanating there. She was really, really irritated and wished to get out from the situation quickly, else she would just end up having a super massive overwhelming headache. Of course, it was not the sole reason—like she said, she should get out of the shopping center as soon as possible if she doesn't want to be late to her class. Moreover, it's Hamanaka-sensei's, who was notorious to be one of the strictest yet unpredictable professor. Unless there's any prior notification that his class was going to be cancelled, Seri would never want to be late, let alone skipped a class.
Unfortunately, it seemed that the dark-haired man wouldn't let her go. Just as Seri started to walk away, he said something that made her cancelled her steps as well as getting even more vexed. Seriously, this brat— It was hard for Seri not to grit her teeth in anger. How dare he put all the blame on me? "You were the one who started it all." Seri responded coldly, not wanting to admit that she did her bit, played her part in the arguments. She turned to face the young man again. Glancing thoroughly at him, she continued her sentence, "Seriously, I have no more time to argue with such a conceited young brat like you. I shall be going—isn't this what I should do?"
How many times should Seri said that he was like a brick wall? A thick brick wall which kept bouncing things and hard to hit—the embodiment of headache. Next time if they ever meet again—Seri truly wished it would never happen—she would bring a staff or maybe a hammer. It's kinda useless to use words on him, so maybe she should do it physically. Seri didn't care if he was something inhuman, to her he's simply an annoying brat, especially with that uniform he was wearing. He might actually be a vampire, or whatever—really, I don't care.
Turning around again, Seri began to make a few swift steps towards the cashier, each one faster than the other preceding. She hoped that the man wouldn't go after her—she's already tired as hell—how many times she should mention about it? For whatever's sake...
TAG: @coilednoble WORDS: 511. NOTES: Seri is uber done. Don't go after her, or else...
Goodness, no matter how many times Ruki had said something to this woman, she'd say something back despite him telling her that she was wasting both of their times with her justifications that sounded insincere due to that coldness tone in her voice. Was she doing this intentionally to irritate him or just trying to take the final word? Admittedly, he saw that she was basically like him; calm speaking but had the rather assertive tone in the voice. Was she filled with pride herself? It bothered him to even think about that; someone who attempted to meet up or be higher than his standards. It almost made him feel attempted to just take her here quickly while no one was nearby and feed on her but that wasn't Ruki at all. He had his restraints and knew to take responsibility.
Another thing he realized just by the scent of this woman was that she didn't seem at all human, or at least she was human but not fully if that made any sense. She had also the scent of a vampire but it was mixed in with the average human's scent. Was she...half-human and half-vampire? Was that even possible? Then again, it came to his mind that it was possible for a human to be turned to a vampire like him, for example so it should be possible for someone to be a dhampir, half mortal and half immortal. It shouldn't matter to the elder Mukami, he didn't know anything about this woman except that she was such a nuisance, it was ridiculous.
Once again, she spoke back to him before taking her leave completely. Ruki eyed on the blonde dhampir and a tiny smirk began to form on his lips. "You know, you could've simply just ignored me and left to continue on with whatever plans you have." He began to walk towards her only to pass beside her but stopped for a temporary moment as his face went near her ear, speaking quietly to her, coolly, "Yet, you made the choice to continue speaking with me. You are proving my point on wasting your own time, again. You're quite simple-minded." He pulled himself away, the default look on his face formed back, "If you're going to leave, then just do so. Don't speak to me about it."
The woman went on ahead to the cashier before Ruki could go forth. He already got what he needed and went to the direction she was heading. It seemed like he was following her but all the cashiers were in that direction.
Seriously, why every time Seri said something, the young man always be able to say something back? Even before the blonde left him, he still had the time to say a few sentences. Some of them were done right in her ear. She didn't want to admit it, but his voice sent shivers down her spine. In that moment that felt like an eternity, the feeling of embarrassment quickly mixed up with annoyance and rage she was already feeling—making her at the very loss of words. So much that her face went all red—whether it's because of the embarrassment or the anger, or maybe the mixture of both, even Seri didn't really know herself. Though, Seri would assure you that the reason why she didn't talk back to the male vampire anymore was more because she's already exhausted and done with him.
If there was something she would like to admit, anyway, Seri had never met someone like him before. No, it wasn't the fact that he was something else than human—she had met various creatures before including ones that probably similar to him—those with the vampire-like scent, but a little bit different... There are quite a few of them in her class. The 'special' thing about him was that no one before him ever dare to take the final word against Seri. With the exception of the college professors, the male vampire was the first one among all those people she had ever met to be able to somehow beat her in an argument. And she hated him so much for that, she wished that they would never meet ever again. Or, if fate decided to play some prank on me, let me win—no, the next time we meet I'll definitely win against him. I'll prove that I'm not like what he thought I am...
Seriously, to lose against someone else in an argument... That's unacceptable.
It was quite a queue at the cashiers. Not that long, but maybe around three or four people on each line. The green-eyed dhampir sighed as she waited for her turn. As she did so, her phone vibrates and she went to take a quick look. Two messages were in, one from her classmate saying that Hamanaka-sensei suddenly cancelled the class, another was from Miyazawa-senpai, saying that he has something to take care of, so he wouldn't be available until very late at night. That means, Seri has about two hours before the laboratory class started. During that time, maybe there would be a chance for Seri to work on a few things related to her and Miyazawa-senpai's project, so by the time he's available, they could possibly continue to the next steps.
The person right in front of the cashier seemed to take quite a time. The dhampir sighed, glanced around her, found that the male she was talking to was nearby, sighed once again, and muttered to herself quietly, "Goodness, this is nightmare."
Noticing that the woman didn’t answer back as usual, Ruki felt accomplished as he knew she couldn’t say anything in return to irritate him. The argument died and he had taken the final word against her. She was more or less irritated herself and he didn’t care since he didn’t let his pride down. He did notice the redness in her face, (“What a lewd woman.”) he thought. Did his words when he was up close to her spike up the face of arousal? Was this the reason why she couldn’t say something back at him?
She left before he could say anything more to her but she still left off that scent. Despite that it was both a human and a vampire’s mixed in, the dhampir’s scent was almost intoxicating to the Mukami. The thought about trying out the blood of a dhampir almost seemed tempting to him but he restrained for himself as he knew better than to just take the woman right here and now. He knew everything about self-control however, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t mind tempting her if they were ever to meet again even though she was still a nuisance.
The Mukami went to look for the shortest line or at least an empty spot throughout the queue of cashiers but to no avail. Every booth had around three or four people in each line. His patience was beginning to thin until by his luck, there was one booth that had a line of two people. He walked to the shortest line only to see that the second person behind the former happened to be the dhampir much to his exasperation. He had no choice but to go behind her and wait for the first person to finish up paying while more of his forbearance was fading away. He noticed that the woman’s vexation increased and broke the silence between them, “Do not think that I’m following you, you are no concern of mine and this just so happened to be coincidental and unintentional.”
She hated it. To lose in an argument just like that, in a way she never thought going to be happened—Seri could never accept it. Worse, she did embarrass herself. It was his fault anyway. He was the one who started everything. Even if it was true that Seri wasted her own time for arguing with him, it was unintentional and still the male's fault. Her flushed cheeks—it was his fault as well. Really, it's all his fault and I can't forgive it. So unacceptable...
The blonde woman sighed once again, cursing inwardly at how unfortunate she was at the time. She was trapped between a woman who seemed to take quite a long time with her payment and an obnoxious man she wished she would never meet again—at least not this soon. This is really a nightmare. The nightmare got worse when Seri heard the man's voice breaking the silence between them. Once again, Seri cursed inwardly, knowing that if she answered him, she might ended up in another argument with him. Even if she carefully selected her words, there was no guarantee he wouldn't be able to retaliate—admittedly, the man was quite smart. But, the dark-haired male was kind of strange, too. He was the one who told Seri not to tell him if she was going to leave, but why did he tell her that he wasn't following her intentionally? As if he needs to tell me that.
"You don't have to tell me such a thing," she replied at last without even looking at the man. The woman in front of them had finished her payment, prompting Seri to walk up to the cashier and handed the stuffs she bought. "You know, you make me suspicious by announcing that you are not intentionally following me," Seri spoke again as she waited for the cashier to count the total she had to pay. She knew they were in the shortest queue, she just couldn't help but feeling suspicious.
As if he wanted this to happen either. If anything, this was the last thing Ruki wanted to happen. He believed this was all just coincidental, to be in line with a woman who had a bit of a sharp tongue on her. Albeit, he'd admit for someone like her to have the audacity to come off to him with her own ammo of words for her own defense was rather impressive, he wasn't going to allow it however. Ruki was not the kind of person that would show weakness or back down on his words and if he was going to be in a situation like he was for these past couple of minutes, he was going to make his word final, whether the opponent liked it or not.
The blonde female had her own beliefs and they were different from the Mukami's since she believed that there was a sense of suspicion going on. Was the dhampir that paranoid or was there another reason why she felt rather cautious towards him? Or is she trying to give him some sort of signal? She wasn't even looking at him in the eyes or just looking at him in general. This time, she was facing away from him, waiting in line to be next to pay to the cashier. Was she hiding something? Perhaps a reddened face that she was too ashamed to reveal to him? Maybe even the expression of fear that she was going to lose again to him. The vampire somewhat found this amusing, he nearly could smirk but the default face expression he had on remained and never changed.
He gave out a sigh, "For you to feel that sort of way, do you honestly believe that I would want anything to do with someone who is so insincere as you?" He asked, a very modulated tone in his voice but still cold with his words, "How audacious, do not think of yourself as exceptional all because you have spoken with me, gaining my little attention towards you. This was no more than sheer coincidence and once I leave, I'll be more than happy that I will not see such a nuisance as you again in my presence." He added.
To be honest, there would be no difference if the male vampire said nothing to Seri at all—she would still be suspicious. After all, it was just natural for Seri to get suspicious of someone else's intention, especially after what the vampire did to her just a few minutes before. No, she was not going to admit he incidentally hit her soft spot—she just hated all he did. From how he started the argument until how it ended—Seri truly despised it with all of her heart. Not to mention the blush on her face was quite hard to get rid of—by the time it was Seri's turn, her cheeks were still slightly red.
The dhampir gritted her teeth in annoyance upon hearing the male's reply to her blatant suspicion. Insincere, he said? How dare he— "You jerk—" she muttered under her breath while clenching her purse tightly, the voice of the cashier prevented her from actually crushing it. "There is no guarantee you would do nothing to me," she said calmly while giving her money to the cashier, despite being utterly irritated. She was right, wasn't she? He was the one who told her to shut up, yet he was also the one who keep retaliating. He also told me not to speak up about what I was going to do, yet—tch. I also couldn't forget that thing he did—I mean—tch. Tilting her head slightly to glance at the male, the female dhampir spoke again, "Well. I, too, would be very happy if I will never see such a headache like you ever again."
As the cashier handed her all the stuffs she had bought as well as a small change, Seri quickly put them where appropriate. Now her business there were done, the blonde female turned herself around and walked slightly away from the cashier's booth, allowing the vampire male to take his turn. But before she left the place completely, Seri coldly said to him, "If you really are not following me, then be quiet and leave me alone."
TAG. @geniusloveless WORDS. 531 NOTES. They are both done with each other
It almost felt as though time was going slower by the minute. Ruki’s patience began to thin and his irritation only grew worse for the fact that he had to wait beside the dhampir. It’s true that he didn’t ask for this nonsense but was this really all that necessary? He stayed honest about this, did he not? Albeit, very blunt but it was still true about what he said to the blonde woman, no matter how she’s going to look at it, it was all just a coincidence for him to be standing next to her to pay what he has.
Once it was the woman’s turn to pay, he could tell immediately, just by seeing a little bit of her face that her once pallid cheeks had reddened. It was then that she still attempted to be on the defence and called him a jerk though she muttered it out as if she didn’t want him to hear it. However, she suddenly added in a calm voice that it was by no guarantee that he would do nothing to her. Was that supposed to signify him? Were Ruki’s morals less restrained he would, with haste, make a rather vile action towards her even if they were in front of the cashier but he was nowhere near that sort of man, nor will he ever be. He said nothing towards that but kept it in mind.
He found it quite pathetic that she couldn’t call him anything else but a “headache”. Was that the best she could think of? For someone, who tried to act so intellectual or someone of high standards, like the Mukami, it was downright weak. “Given to how you refer to me as a headache,” The vampire responded, “Allow me to say that I only speak the truth and from what it looks like, you seem like one who can’t take criticism very well. Perhaps if you were to have a stronger skin and understood my words as more of a correction, you wouldn’t be taking this rather harsh.”
Before the dhampir left the line after finishing her payment, Ruki once again went up to her ear. His voice dropped into a whisper and he remarked about her comment earlier, “Whatever your thoughts are on what I would supposedly do to you, given by your redden cheeks. I suppose that these actions are rather foul. Such a lewd woman, you are.” He slightly pulled away, “However, I will not make such actions towards you, I don’t have time for ones who are by far mediocre.” And he left it as that while he went to finish paying the cashier.
Once he finished paying, the blonde had not left, yet and made another comment on leaving her be. Once he passed by her but took a different direction than where she’s going, without looking towards her, he responded with, “I do not take orders from mediocre women like you, nor ones who think they are of high standards as I am. As I’ve already said before, I was by no means following you, where we stood was all coincidental and with that, I’ll be taking my leave.”
For a moment, Seri was taken aback by the vampire's comment about her. He was true. The dhampir was not someone who could take criticism well—most people would fail at their attempt of criticizing and/or correcting Seri's thoughts and behavior, since once she set her mind on something, she would stick firmly to her stance. In fact, her rigidity was the reason why some of her classmates call her 'Carbyne-chan'.
As Seri opened her mouth to began her response to his words, the male went up to her ear once again, whispering into it, rendering the female totally speechless. Her cheeks even more reddened than before now—80% out of rage, because she was nowhere near what he thought she was. Yes, she was suspicious of him wanting to do foul things towards her, but she was not that dirty of a woman. She had her pride and dignity as a lady. The rest of her blush was caused by the mixture of annoyance and embarrassment about the fact that someone like him found out her bad traits in matter of minutes and had the guts to blatantly confront her about that, as well as—yes, the fact that he hit her sweet spot from point-blank range. I really hate him for that.
Despite her anger from being called mediocre, Seri didn't make any remark about his words as she was still unable to speak. It was only after she managed to organize her stuffs and began to walk away from the cashier's booth, she was able to speak again. The vampire's response to her words greatly irritated her, yet what seemed to be his decision of leaving prevented her from actually reaching her explosion point.
"How rude of you," Seri said as she glanced at the male, trying to be assertive despite her still reddened cheeks. "However, if that's really the case, then I will be taking my leave as well."
With that, the blonde dhampir walked away completely, not even bothering to look back at the male vampire. She was already tired, and now, she really needed some peace. Maybe she would try to calm herself down before she start working on her project, or maybe until her laboratory class started. Hopefully she would not meet other people who would irritate her, because at this point, even the smallest nuisance could make her explode.
