Another day, another shift where Yunneth has to wear a heavy maid dress that felt like an oven. The frills and lace were not helping either as well as the cat ears she HAD to wear as part of her uniform. To make it worse, she felt the day getting warmer and even humid. And...was that a rain cloud she sees in the distance? Yes...it is.
"Ugh...I don't want to serve out in the rain. Not with this dress on anyway..."
Yunneth complained. The tables outside come with large umbrellas so people could still sit outside and eat with out sitting at a wet table. And really she was not liking this development.
"Ma'am! Can we can a refill please? Green bubble tea, please."
"Yes, sir! I will be out with your drink in a moment."
Well...at least she has a moment to enjoy the air conditioned building for a minute or two. A few minutes pass before she comes back with the young mans tea and goes back to holding the door for customers and greeting them like a maid usually would. Though it seems she keeps forgetting to address the customer as such...at least no one is saying anything.
"Well I guess this is not too bad. It can't get any more embarrassing right?"
Yunneth asked herself. Well...at least they pay well. The day could be worse.
[attr="class","textieno"]First, he has already dealt with the blonde dhampir back at the bookstore. Then, he set a human girl in place, making her cry in result. That’s her fault for trying to be smart with Ruki. Can the day get any worse? Hopefully, none of his younger brothers will do anything mischievous at the Mukami manor today; the last thing Ruki needs to see is the whole mansion being a complete mess. If that’s going to be the case, there will be some serious punishment given.[break][break]
For now, in a not-so bright mood, the dark-haired vampire felt he could use some tea right now to calm down. It is still the beginning of the day, positive things can happen. Is that wishful thinking or optimism? Hopefully, it’s the second answer.[break][break]
Thinking about tea, the eldest Mukami just happens to walk up to a cafe, nearby. Though this may be time consuming since he already has plans for today, it is at the point where Ruki was beginning to sacrifice some time to enlighten his mood. After dealing with two presumptuous women, anything that can at least brighten up the day would be appreciated.[break][break]
Ruki made the decision to walk into the cafe, just order a tea and then he’ll be on his way. When he walked in however, the environment inside did not turn out to be what he expected. The employees were all dressed up in anything that involves...cats. This cafe was nothing ordinary, it’s cat-themed? He’s unsure of the reasoning, but definitely he thought about Kou. This would possibly be something to the second Mukami’s liking, he might even invest in it if he so desired.[break][break]
This is a mistake, and Ruki planned to take his leave before anyone could approach him but suddenly, something or someone happened to catch his eye. He turned his head towards the certain employee, recognizing the pigtails that are more than likely her signature look. Is that really her, the girl he met at the library? Of course, she would happen to work at a place so silly as this one.
Finally! She could now get out of the heat. She still had to work but Yunneth wanted to see the silver lining. The building is always kept at a cool temperature. Not too where everyone is freezing but at a temperature that could be comfortable. 80 degrees is not too bad, at least in Yunneth's mind anyway. Soon she heard the bell of the door ring. Yunneth turned around, a large smile on her face.
"Welcome to Momo Nek-"
Yunneth interrupted herself, a look of shock on her face. WHY WAS HE HERE?! Was he into cat girls? He does not seem the type but...anything is possible? Ugh this is now even more embarrassing. Then again she does not even know this guys name. It isn't like he is a friend who will make fun of her.
"Maybe he does not recognize me? And if he does he may stay quiet."
She managed to smile through some of her embarrassment.
"W-would you like to dine in or is this take out?"
Of course Yunneth wanted him to say take out. She kept repeating it in her head like a mantra. If there was a god, she would be praying that he does not recognize her.
[attr="class","textieno"]This is definitely a mistake, no doubt about it. For a cafe, this is not the sort of place Ruki would have in mind to sit down and relax. If there’s one person who would admire this cafe, it’s Kou who would be the right person. He wouldn’t even be surprised if his younger idol brother manages to invest for this place; he’d want to keep it in business.[break][break]
If there’s a time to leave, now would be the most preferable for Ruki. But because of the fact that he managed to recognize the girl he met at the bookstore, he failed to take his leave, immediately. Everything usually comes with a price and the eldest Mukami has to pay one; be respectful to the girl approaching him and stay in the area.[break][break]
He took a glance at the same girl he met at the library being a waitress to him. Taking further analyzation on her, he definitely gazed at the maid dress and the cat ears on her head. Of course, of all places, she just so happens to work at this place. What of the chances? It certainly was no surprise that Ruki would end up seeing her in something so silly. Being the gentleman that he is, he looked down at her, having no choice but to give her an answer.[break][break]
“I honestly will be taking my leave, as I believe to have walked into a wrong area.” He admitted. It is after all the truth. He expected a regular cafe, not some silly-looking funhouse that’s main theme is about cats.
Yunneth just stood there awkwardly, waiting for the young mans response. She really did not enjoy it when someone she knew walked in here. It was awkward and unpleasant. She felt indifferent to "Fetish cafes" but is it was not for the pay and hours, she would have looked elsewhere. When told he is in the wrong place, Yunneth was about to offer to help give him go to where ever he wanted to. She is still new in the town but she has managed to memorize the town layout thanks to a few tours and late night exploration. Just as she is about to speak, she felt eyes burning into the back of her head. Ugh...the manager...this one just did not like her. They have a few but this one had it out for her. If she missed out on a possible sale, she got chewed out. Great...
"Ah...well. Can I at least interest you in some sweets or a to go cup while you figure out where you are going? I assure you that it is worth the time and money."
She nodded her head as she gave her sales pitch.
"Please buy something! I am going to get my bum chewed out!"
She begged in her head. She would just let him go but she feared the manager more than some stranger.
Surely, there are other cafes that are more professional looking than this one. Ruki already had his plan set to just leave this joke of a cafe, and go to another one. There’s no reason for him to stay here any longer, but this girl…
Is she that desperate to keep him around here?
She offered anything that’s available, but he has already given his word that he’s in the wrong area. What part of that did she not understand? She’s just as forgetful as she was back at the bookstore. How typical of her.
“I highly doubt that staying at a place that’s obnoxiously cat themed is anywhere near worth my time.” If she knows him, Ruki would’ve said that the employee has mistaken his interests to Kou’s, and those two had great differences in interests.
“Clearly, you don’t realize I already know where I’m going, and leaving the premises is one of the plans I have. Now, if you were more understanding, you’d let me go with my decision, and not try to convince me to stay here. Despite that it is your job to welcome me in and be of good service.” He kept his tone silent and calm, to keep from any eavesdroppers to listen on to the conversation as if it’s any of their business.
“Your good service can be of great use if you stop trying.”
A joke of a cafe? Yunneth does admit that she would rather wear ugly sun dresses than dress up as a neko maid. But if he did not like this place from the start, why not look into the windows or actually pay attention to the building.
"Then perhaps you should take better care of what business you end up in lest you waste more of your precious time."
Yunneth retorted in the same low tone as the young man. Though her features showed some irritation, she kept a calm tone, showing she is at least somewhat restraining herself from fully snapping. If she wanted someone to be rude to her, she would approach a customer who is ACTUALLY buying something. It has been a hard day so far and she didn't need this.
"Besides, I am merely doing my job, sir. Manager said I needed to be more aggressive. If you still want to leave, that is your prerogative."
At this point, she did not care if he walked out. She tried to keep a potential customer and if he won't stay, fine. No one can say she didn't try.
“Good, you’re finally understanding what I’m thinking.” Ruki crossed his arms at her, “First time I actually see you being smart, for once.”
He still remembers her back at the public library. Ugh, she was so absent-minded back over there, it was ridiculous. In conclusion, he had to help her grab that one book she couldn’t reach on the top of the shelf, no thanks to her small height.
It’s rather funny to see the small girl getting upset about his comment. For this place, it’s a joke to see someone getting defensive. Then again, Kou might’ve done the same and be on the defense about it as well. His cat obsession is rather...inane.
“More aggressive, you say?” He raised a brow at her, “I’m sorry, but for someone wearing attire that would probably appease my brother, I can not take you seriously. Even after that moment when you had to jump like that of a small dog back at the public library. Which is rather an ironic comparison since you’re wearing cat ears on the top of your head.”
He definitely couldn’t forget about her jumping for the book she had tried to reach. That was annoying.
Oh? So she is dumb now? It wasn't her fault the other employees were busy elsewhere! She disliked people like this. She met a lot of them in her former social circle. So many wealthy boys who found themselves to be "all that" and liked to make themselves look bigger.
"...How rude. My brothers once said men like this are over compensating by having a giant ego. Huh...the twins never told me what men like this are compensating for. Bad self image perhaps?"
She said to herself in her thoughts. They never would tell her no matter how much she asked. But now as she is older, she could see most of what they meant. What ever...this man is being rude and Yunneth does not appreciate it. When told he could not take her seriously, she just pouted. Would making a case for herself even be worth her time?
"A dog, hm? No need to be a git about the ordeal. If there was a god, may it forbid that you would have to go out of your way to help someone."
At this point, Yunneth did not care if he took her seriously.
"And say I was out of my mandatory uniform, would you even take me seriously then?"
She questioned. The raven is a optimist at heart but even she was aware enough to know that him taking her seriously would be unlikely. Ugh...when did this become petty banter and insults?
And the pouting begins. That’s expected of someone who can’t take the truth very well. Not Ruki’s problem, whatsoever, it’s not his fault that the young girl can’t handle the fact that she’s simpleminded.
Oh, now she’s putting some deity onto him? What a joke. If she only knew.
“Keep your little close-minded beliefs to yourself.” He sounded more demanding, than rather being on the defense about it. He found religion as a way for humans to keep their hopes up and depend it on something that possibly does or doesn’t exist. Hell, it could possibly just be a made up fantasy.
"And say I was out of my mandatory uniform, would you even take me seriously then?"
She really wants an answer to that? It should be obvious by now. Must Ruki spell it out for her? She’s not going to like it, but she’s asking for it. Her fault if she gets offended.
“Do you honestly believe if you were to change your attire, I would still take you seriously?” He raised a brow at her, “You’re that of a child, of course I wouldn’t see you as a mature person. Giving off that performance you had back the library, who would?”
"If I am immature than you are simply full of it."
Slowly the man was trying her patience and bringing the worst out of her. What about her made him turn his nose at her? Yes...she could be childish and immature and she knew it. Would she change it? Seeing as it is not too often and seeing as a change is not needed in her eyes, then the answer would be no. Why would she change for someone like this?
"You merely look at past actions."
She stated. And he calls her closed minded?
"...You know what? Arguing with you is something not worth my time. You are not worth my time. Especially when I am on the bloody clock."
Alright...time to just calm down and breathe. "He is not worth it...he is not worth it..." She would repeat this in her head like a mantra. There is no reward in trying to win an argument so meaningless. If he does not like her, fine. It isn't like he is the first. A moment. She just needs a moment to regain a cool head.
"Unless you are going to buy something, I highly suggest you leave. Now."
Her voice dropped, giving him the demand this time. Irritation was evident on her face. The entire time he has been nothing but rude and now she has had enough. If she was on her own time, this would be different but whether it was on her own time or not, she would come to the same conclusion: he is not worth her ire.
[attr="class","textieno"]“Ah yes, because I’ve never been called arrogant before.” Ruki rolled his eyes and shook his head at her. “Talk to me again, when you have something more creative to insult me, next time.”[break][break]
When will this girl learn that he’s very observant of others? Of course he’s going to look at actions of everyone, it’s what Ruki does. Even his brothers know that, much to their annoyance but they tend to tolerate with it, just like how he tolerates with their behavior. [break][break]
“I believe your clumsy actions, in general describe your character enough. It’s not just past actions, for your information. It’s also the default actions that give out a person’s personality.” He corrected the girl, “Honestly, you should be wise as to not act like you know me more than I know myself.”[break][break]
Ruki glanced at the clock in the cafe and then back at the irritated young girl, “Perhaps if you didn’t want to waste your time, why argue with me in the first place? You could’ve just walked off somewhere else, where another could be in need of service, than having to stand here and unprofessionally argue with a guest.” He couldn’t care at all if he’s angering her. She’s an employee who’s supposed to not argue with customers, correct? Doesn’t that give the place a bad image if one is to be mad at a customer here? Just to nab at her once more, he added onto his argument with,[break][break]
“Isn’t the customer always right?”[break][break]
Oh now she’s demanding him to leave, how pathetic. She’s not scaring him one bit, “I’ve been meaning to do so before you decided to try and convince me to stick around. Only to fail at it, as expected.” He placed his hands in his pockets, turning away from the girl as he makes his departure.[break][break]
