Today felt like a really good day, for some reason. It just had that nice atmosphere and that's what this female liked, calm and cool days. Plus the fact that she didn't have to worry about school today either or any school work adding to that. To enjoy this day, she left her home, rather spending the day away from it than staying in it like a bat cave. Heading off to the town of Kamina, the girl wondered what could be a good way to spend the calm time. There were many places to go but not ones that seem to catch her attention until suddenly, there was that place. The place that can always brighten her day because it held a precious treasure to her; the bakery. Why the bakery of all places was because of the sweet craving she always gets from it,
"I'm pretty sure that they have some good cheesecake right now." The black-haired female said to herself. She could never turn down the privilege for cheesecake because of the tasty goodness especially the flavor she loved most which was white chocolate cheesecake. A bite of that for her and she felt like she'd be in Heaven.
Without hesitation, the girl went straight to the bakery to get satisfy her cravings. When she opened the door, the scent of sweet, sugary, goodness wafted over her face. Everything looked so good from sweet bread to cake but didn't care about any of that, she wanted cheesecake and cheesecake only. Looking on ahead through the section where her favorites reside, she stared in awe with bright hazel eyes at all the flavors that are set out, she already recognized them; orange mango, dark chocolate raspberry, tiramisu, pumpkin swirl, key lime, and of course the one that caught her hazel eyes which was the white chocolate macadamia nut with caramel. There were so many good flavors, she felt almost indecisive but definitely she was aiming for the white chocolate cheesecake.
The weather was getting cooler - not exactly Jen's preference. Despite living in Minnesota, Massachusetts, and even a brief stint in Alaska, the half-Caribbean gal just never got used to the chill. She resigned herself to wearing jeans for once, and swathed herself in a rainbow - bordering on psychedelic - scarf, before setting out on the town. Luckily, her destination was a quaint bakery and cafe' in the lively business district of Kamina, one that she'd heard had absolutely top-notch desserts, particularly their array of cheesecakes: Jen was told that their repertoire was somewhere in the fifties, but what they made and put out depended on the day you arrived, unless you custom-ordered a full cake. The dhampir could barely contain her excitement, as she prepared to be surprised.
The inside was warm and inviting, and the light was just low enough to not be harsh on the eyes, but not so dark as to impede sight. Just as she imagined, the smell of creamy cheesecake and various bakery spices flooded her senses, and the vast array of desserts in the case nearly blew her away to the point of being overwhelming. Jen skimmed along, taking in all of the options, and nearly ran into a girl of about her physical age: dark hair, a chain of piercings in her ear, but what Jen most noted was her sparkly gold top and red leather jacket. Something told the tanned young woman that she'd like this chick, who was eyeing the display just as hungrily as she had been, if not more so.
"You seem like you're familiar with this place," the tomboy remarked, with a half glance toward the mysterious, seemingly punk rock girl beside her, "I'm kinda new here, was wondering what you might recommend."
She kept looking at the cheesecakes, over and over again but still, Raven knew that she may as well choose the white chocolate cheesecake. It was her all-time favorite and nothing could ever top that flavor for the vampire. Before getting her chance to ask for a piece, she was suddenly approached by a female voice beside her,
"You seem like you're familiar with this place."
Well she wasn't wrong, Raven always came by here for their delicious cheesecakes and other baked goods. "Well of course, they make the best cheesecake here in Kamina." She confirmed, not staring at the woman when she responded as her eyes were so glued to the white chocolate. "Why do you ask?"
"I'm kinda new here, was wondering what you might recommend."
Wow, no one ever asked Raven about her recommendations. She could suggest almost anything that involves cheesecake, all the flavors here were delicious. This person really must be new around here if she needed to ask. "Well for starters, maybe you can try the orange..." she turned her head to face the person, about to recommend the orange mango cheesecake. The first thing that Raven saw from the woman wasn't her face, however. She had quite a bosom that instead of saying mango, the vampire said, "...m-MELONS!" her hazel eyes widened when she had just realized what she said out loud and began to fluster.
She gasped when she couldn't believe she let that slip out of her mouth and tried to recover, "I mean mango! Orange mango, not melons! Wrong fruit." She nervously laughed, finally looking at the girl's face. The female looked around Raven's age, was quite tan and had long brown hair. She didn't look like she would live around this area, maybe she's possibly foreign? Raven swallowed hard, saying something like that is rather offensive and she didn't mean to be that way, it just so happened that she ended up seeing her chest.
"Y-you can also try the dark chocolate raspberry, that one's really good too!” Too late now, Raven already felt her face heating up in embarrassment, she really hoped that she didn't offend the tan girl.
Jen repeated the statement back as a question, and although she wasn’t about to take it at face value, she also found herself interested in finding out if there was a grain of truth behind it. However, she gave a moment of pause when she heard the other woman’s rather sudden exclamation, “... melons?” She turned her head back just in time to catch Raven glancing at her rather ample bosom, and instinctively looked down, “Oh, yeah… honestly, don’t feel too bad about it, you wouldn’t be the first one to react like that. I used to get upset about it but now I just kind of accept that they’re my most prominent feature.”
The dhampir relaxed her stance and chuckled, “Anyway, you were saying… orange mango? Sounds up my alley. Anything else of note?”
She turned back to the display, and located the orange mango, then followed as her new acquaintance made note of the dark chocolate raspberry, “Gotta say, sounds like you’re on my wavelength - can’t say either of those sound too bad. Let’s see…” she leaned down and scanned further, spying a pie that appeared a soft, natural green, dressed with a rich-looking orange syrup. The sign before it was labeled Matcha Passionfruit. Jen perused for a few more seconds, and took note of any number of flavors: banana creme, chocolate mint, hazelnut coffee, sea salt caramel… so many to choose from, and only so much room in her stomach!
She tapped her finger on the glass, “I’m looking at that matcha passionfruit one, is it any good? Or have you tried it, maybe I should ask first? Can’t blame you if you haven’t, there’s an awful lot to choose from.”
Did she seriously question it? Well, she was new here so she probably would have to see it for herself. Raven was rather relieved that the brunette didn't take her sudden comment much to an offense but she was still embarrassed. How could she let that slip out of her mouth like that? Her cheeks were stained with pink in result since she kept repeating the thought over in her head, wishing she could've said something else instead and unable to believe how clumsy she was.
"Uh y-yeah! The orange mango, it has quite the tropical taste to it." the vampire forced out a laugh, still nervous but cleared her throat to keep herself calm and not make a fool out of herself, "I mean if there was pineapple added to it, it'd probably taste better but that's just my opinion it's still pretty good if you're into the sweet and fruity kinds." She shrugged. Seeing that the brunette was liking her recommendations, it made Raven smile to herself as she felt some accomplishment about herself.
"Well if you want I can recommend you the..." She stopped in mid-sentence when she noticed that the young female was gazing at more cheesecake and then finally, the matcha passionfruit. She couldn't exactly blame her, who could really miss the green texture appearance with the orange syrup covering it? The cheesecake already looked very appealing to the eye, "Oh that?" Raven walked up closer to the glass, "That one's pretty unique actually but it is very good since it's got such an appealing taste with such a combination. I've tried most of these cheesecakes actually but surprisingly not all of them since they always come up with new flavors. Matcha's definitely a new one actually so if you want to try that one, don't let me stop you." The vampire nodded to her.
"But if you want something else, I can definitely recommend you an all-time favorite of mine and that would be this one." She pointed her finger to the white chocolate caramel cheesecake with macadamia nut. She had to bring that one up for sure, she didn't know exactly why of all these cheesecake flavors that were so delicious she liked the white chocolate best. "It's very delicious, top notch, the best in my taste. I don't think I've had anything better than this one. I really think you will like it."
OMG I'm not even that confident about this reply, I'm sorry! Hope you can work with it!
Jen listened, nodding every so often as Raven opined - rather affectionately, she noted - about the white chocolate caramel. Now, under most circumstances, she might have been a bit reluctant to go for that combination, as it seemed like it might be too much undiluted sweetness; however, she would have felt a bit guilty if she’d asked for recommendations and didn’t take at least one of them. Hmm…
“Well… if you say it’s good…” the dhampir mused for a moment, then looked to the girl, “Hey, do you have anywhere you need to be soon? If you don’t mind the company, we can split a piece of the white chocolate, on me, and I’ll get a couple others to try.”
Although Jen still hadn’t totally decided on what flavors she wanted, she had a couple that she was gravitating toward; she figured that she had room in her stomach for about two and a half pieces of cheesecake and some sort of drink. The matcha passionfruit was a definite, but did she want to do the orange mango, or the dark chocolate raspberry? Maybe it’d be a good idea to get something that she knew would be good, along with something experimental… Dark chocolate raspberry it was. Now to decide on a drink...
She glanced over to her new companion, “I don’t think I caught your name, actually. I’m Jen~ it’s short for another name, but most people have trouble pronouncing it.”
Raven stared at the dhampir, an awestruck look was drawn on her face. She may as well accept being accompanied with Jen since she usually is never occupied with anything, unless it was schoolwork. However, she had no work to do. All that was mainly planned was grabbing some cheesecake and then go back home, or walk around the park, or somewhere else that meant being out and about.
“No, I don’t the mind the company. I actually don’t have anything to do today, to be honest.” She responded with some haste. The vampire was quite excited, she felt the urge to make little bunny hops where she stood to get out the excitement. Instead, she shoved her hand in her jacket’s pocket, and began to dig out some money she had in there.
“As a token of gratitude, let me take care of the payment. You are after all, new to this area and I would gladly like to be the one to pay for whichever you choose.” Clearly, there wasn’t much of a problem with Raven paying. She knew she can take care of it, no thanks to the social background she was never proud of having. With whatever amount of riches she has stashed, paying for someone else’s food was nothing. Though, she tried not to take too much advantage on being extremely generous. She didn’t want to be viewed as a member of high society, who is only giving to others out of pity.
As soon as Jen glanced at her, giving out her name and asking for hers, The vampire smiled, her hazel eyes gazing to the dhampir, “My name’s Raven, it’s nice to meet you, Jen.” she was sort of curious on what Jen’s full name could be if it was hard pronounce. “So what part of the world did you come from, if I may ask?”
Although Jen wasn’t totally opposed to Raven’s counter-offer, she admittedly was caught slightly off-guard, “Are you sure? I can always pitch in a little if I need to! But I mean,” she chuckled, “I’m not exactly gonna turn it down if you really want to! Just figured I’d offer since I asked~”
The dhampir finalized her order, then leaned on the counter while she waited, crossing one leg over the other, “Raven, huh? I like it, it suits you.”
She flicked a lock of chestnut brown hair away from her eyes (even though she knew it was just going to fall back there eventually) and answered proudly, “I’m from the United States. Guess that shouldn’t be too surprising, I don’t imagine you see a lot of girls this dark hanging around Japan!” Jen laughed again, “But like, my mom is basically Trinidadian, my dad is mostly English and German… and then my full first name is Egyptian. Confusing, right?”
Raven had an unusual aura about her, one that Jen had sensed on a few of the students at Ryoutei, but she couldn’t put her finger on what it was; she supposed if she had to put words to it, she would call it a sort of familiar unfamiliarity. It didn’t really clarify anything, but that was better than nothing. The tomboy felt a question lingering on her lips, that she tried to hold back at the risk of sounding rude, but despite herself, it spilled out from its confines.
“Hey, uh… if you don’t mind me asking, Raven… how old are you? If I’m out of line in asking, just say so, but I was kinda wondering…”
As much as it sounds tempting to accept the offer of Jen chipping in a bit, Raven shook her head,
“That’s alright, I can handle it from here.” She gave out a smile, trying to kindly reject the offer. “Though, I do appreciate you wanting to.” Right after she said that, she managed to grab out some cash out of her pocket; enough to pay for both of them.
As Raven began paying for both their orders in front of the register counter, Jen continued to talk, saying that the vampire’s name suits her. She turned her face towards the brown-haired girl, “Thanks! Your name’s rather fitting to you, as well.”
The vampire turned her body around to lean on the counter as she waited for their cheesecakes, listening to Jen and learning about her background. A person from America, and yet with such an ethnic background. Already Jen caught Raven’s attention. At least she seems to have an interesting story, she ought to learn a lot about her. Not like the vampire, herself; all she has is that she’s been living here for centuries, and was a noblewoman who lives an independent life. Not so much of a story there, unless Raven wanted to give out the itty-bitty details. The chances of that however, were unlikely.
“I think it makes perfect sense. I kept up with that.” Raven chuckled. “Your family must’ve had quite a lifestyle, it seems. Cultural, I’m guessing?”
(Too long.) That was the first thought that came into Raven’s mind for Jen’s question. The vampire can’t exactly answer it like that since she doesn’t know if this girl is human or not. However, Raven didn’t exactly like to lie, either.
“I am 17 years old.” She answered, “Though it feels like I’ve lived way longer than that. Like centuries, to be honest.” Well she wasn’t wrong, appearance and chronologic wise. What was she supposed to say? That she, in reality, is over 200 years old because she’s actually a vampire? People would think she’s crazy and needs some help, or that she’s trying to be funny and doesn’t want to give out her age. Raven scratched behind her ear after that, not because she has an itch or anything, but out of nervous tension and hoping that she didn’t give herself away.

To that, Jen found herself responding with a chuckle of her own, “Nah, nah,” a waving gesture accompanied it, “we move around a lot because of my dad, he just got a teaching position at the university here.”
Usually people didn’t inquire beyond that, but even when they did, Jen still wasn’t really sure what to tell them. Nine times out of ten, if she told them the truth - that is, that he studies the paranormal - she was met with skepticism over the “usefulness” of the field. It took every fiber of Jen’s being not to argue with them, if only because she knew that if she did, she risked revealing the secret they’d kept under wraps for almost her entire life. Then again, would things be different here, where supposedly there’s been an uptick in vampire activity? Did Raven know that…?
She decided not to elaborate.
“Centuries, huh?” Admittedly, this evoked an eyebrow raise out of the dhampir, but - giving her companion the benefit of the doubt, and ignorant to the fact that Raven was doing the same thing - she obliquely hinted at her own true age, “Guess you’re like me then, I’m eighteen, but y’know, it sometimes feels like I’ve lived fifty years instead. Hell, for as modern as I can be, you’ll almost always find some good old jazz or blues somewhere in my playlist. It stirs my soul, you know?”
She saw the four plated pieces of cheesecake arranged onto a tray, and had to resist letting her mouth water; each one was perfectly sliced and looked just as delicious as the last. Without further hesitation, she took the tray to carry, and asked, “What kind of music are you into, Raven? Oh, and,” Jen glanced around at the half-empty café, “where did you want to sit? I’m not that picky, and it looks like we basically have our choice of seating.”
Nodding her head, Raven sort of envied Jen for having to move around a lot. She probably has seen most parts of the world than the vampire ever had in her two dull centuries of life. Maybe that’s exaggerating a bit, but still, she’s only traveled so far.
“So what brings your father here to Kamina, then? Surely, he wanted to be in the teaching position over here for a reason or more.”
There are possibly tons of reasons why Jen’s father is around. Plenty of things happen here in this town, even things that sound preposterous to explain such as Kamina’s dark “secret”; the supernatural. With more than likely plenty of vampires like Raven around, along with other creatures of the occult, it’s a wonder that most of the humans here haven’t figured it out. Would that consider them lucky? It doesn’t feel like it, neither for the supernatural and the human alike. She isn’t going to jump to that conclusion, but Raven felt that it’s possible that maybe Jen’s family knows something about it. That alone however, is probably another story.
“Fifty years, I see.” She caught on to it. The hints may be vague, but not enough to where Raven can look over it, “That’s pretty specific there.”
This makes things rather easier for the vampire, in fact comfortable. Perhaps giving out the whole “speak the truth, but not the whole truth” worked out for both the girls’ benefits. It’s almost like putting down the cards on the table.
A chuckle came out of Raven’s throat, “Well, there’s nothing wrong with appreciating the music back in the decades.”
There they are, the cheesecake pieces. Her mouth salivating, the cravings urged, she can already just taste the flavor without even biting into the dessert. It took a lot of Raven’s being to not act so giddy and look like an idiot in front of Jen, and everyone else in the eatery. However, she couldn’t resist on giving out a wide grin on her face. As Jen held the tray for their food, Raven was unable to stop looking at them, especially the white chocolate pieces. God, they look so delicious. She was so lost in her reverie, Raven looked up at Jen with a dumbfounded look on her face.
“Eh?!” It took her a bit to process what the brunette said and she blinked a couple times.
“Oh right, seats um…” She gazed around to the empty seating area near the window, pointing to the direction, “Right there’s fine.” The main thought that’s crossing her mind is cheesecake and nothing else. Raven took her seat almost immediately, nearly sliding off from the chair as she sat down.
“The kind of music that I listen to…” Needing to stop thinking with her stomach and more with her mind, Raven rested her chin on her hand to collect herself again. “Well I’m very much into the music back around the late 70’s to the 80’s. I believe my soul feels anew every time I hear the wild vibes from all the rock music.” She scratched her head a little bit, of course for typical century-old vampire,
“And sure I’ll admit, I do rather enjoy some classical music. Though it’s not really my kind of forte, I usually listen to it when I’m in a more mellow mood.” She couldn’t exactly classical, but come on, having to hear that for centuries? That’s not exactly Raven’s cup of tea.
“Since we’re around the whole music subject, do you happen to dance, Jen?”
590 words | @jendayi | Several song filled hours later.
Not a lot of things made Jen nervous in any capacity, but when Raven followed up with a question of specifically why her family was uprooted and moved here, she drew a sharp inhale, and sighed a bit. Then she turned back to her acquaintance, and leaned in to whisper, “If I told you, do you promise not to freak out?”
Was she too specific in saying fifty years? Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck! Jen cursed herself in her mind, hoping she hadn’t just blown everything with her big mouth. She wasn’t always good at subtlety (actually, she was almost always terrible at it) nor at getting hints, and she’d sometimes find hints where there were none.
She tried to relax though, and replied, “Like… don’t get me wrong, I have some slightly more contemporary stuff, but most of it doesn’t get much newer than about the mid-2000’s. It certainly isn’t for a lack of trying, either.”
Once they settled into a spot together, the dhampir took up a fork as she listened to her companion. Late 70’s to early 80’s, she wasn’t sure what the music trends were here in Japan at the time, but in the States this was when metal and punk were on the rise. Classical, Jen was admittedly less familiar with, but she wasn’t totally clueless. Mostly she preferred the majorly over-the-top pieces; some of the Planets pieces, Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, etc.
About three bites into the dark chocolate raspberry (this being the third; the cheesecake here was so rich and creamy that she really needed to take her time savoring each bite), the prongs of the fork still in her mouth as Raven’s question poked through her flavor reverie, “Hm?” her eyebrows raised in tandem, then she put a finger up to have another moment with that morsel before she could answer coherently, “I do, actually! Belly dance is probably my favorite dance form, but since I’ve spent a good part of my life doing capoeira, breakdancing also came pretty easily to me when I gave it a shot. Always wanted to try like, burlesque, or tango, or maybe an African dance, but haven’t really found the classes for them.. or in the case of tango, a partner. You?”
Oh dear, maybe it might have not been such a good idea to ask a question like that yet, it may have been possibly personal. Raven gritted her teeth, feeling guilt-ridden.
“I do not mind you telling me, but if it’s something you don’t feel comfortable with saying, you have the right to not say a word.” She nervously laughed, hoping that’ll relieve Jen in some way.
(“Nice recovery.”) Raven thought. She caught on to it for sure, but she’s not going to poke at it any further; Better safe than sorry. Besides, it’s a first meeting, there’s no need to make things awkward on the first day, and she’s a new person in town. Now that Raven begins to think about it, that’s another new person in town that she’s met. Not that she’s going to complain about it but, so many new people.
“I understand. I had the same situation for myself. It happens to the best of us.” She crossed her legs gazing at the white chocolate cheesecake. She didn’t hesitate to take the fork next to her, and dig in. God, the flavor of bliss. So delicious. Like it was something so delicate, Raven savored each portions of the cheesecake. It’s not too chocolatey, or too sweet; it’s just right and has such a thick and creamy texture. “You seriously, have to try this. I shit you not, you won’t regret it.” She said with a mouthful.
Raven took more portions of just one piece of the white chocolate cheesecake, while Jen explained her dancing interests. Once she asked, the vampire put her fork down, raising her index finger at the brunette while she savors the flavor. After she swallowed and licked her lips for any bits around her mouth, she finally answered,
“Despite me looking as the rocker girl, I actually dance some flamenco. I’ve recently been having interests in the Spanish dance, and hope to practice more at the dance studio over here in Kamina.” Though she meant to keep that secret since she felt embarrassed on expressing her interests sometimes, there’s something about Jen that didn’t make her feel too shy about it.
“Who knows you might be very lucky to find some tango classes and possibly, a partner over there. Haven’t found one yet cause honestly, with flamenco you don’t need a dancing partner.” Best benefit for the vampire, ever. “That’s cool you know some dances, though, I honestly never heard of capoeira before, what is that, if I may ask?”
JEN WHAT THE FUCK YOU WERE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THIS BUT THEN YOU CHURN OUT 600+ WORDS? WTF
Jen still opted to divert her eyes in this instance, and kept her voice low when she replied, “My dad is a researcher. He studies the paranormal… and that’s about all I can really say on the matter.”
Although Raven did seem to try and reassure her, the dhampir still didn’t feel too comfortable divulging the full truth. Anyone could potentially be a hunter, or have connections to one, or incite panic enough to direct one her way. At such an early stage in this relationship, it was just too risky.
The dark-haired girl before her was practically in a trance with that white chocolate cheesecake though, like, holy shit; and Jen thought she loved food? She thought about it for a moment, then excused herself for a moment to get another fork (just to that she could get the full experience without interference from her current piece’s far stronger flavors). Not wanting to take too much of what she perceived to be one of Raven’s favorite foods, Jen scooped up a bite just big enough to get a good mouthful, but not enough that she felt like she was being greedy or overeager. As mentioned, white chocolate wasn’t her preferred flavor, but despite that, it was just as wonderfully decadent and delicious as the dark chocolate. It was easy to see why the vampire kept returning here.
“Damn. Damn, that’s good!” Jen raved, then turned her two pieces toward Raven, “If you want a bite of one of mine, feel free.”
Raven’s comment about flamenco, admittedly, surprised Jen; it wasn’t so much that her having such an interest was surprising - it was that she’d managed to find a studio here that taught it, “Flamenco, huh? I thought about trying that, but I had so many other things I was trying to do that it tended to fall by the wayside. Good luck with that though~”
She grabbed a third fork to take a taste of the matcha passionfruit, and although it was equally enjoyable as, if not more so than, the other two, she got momentarily distracted at the “partner” comment. In fact, she nearly choked, but caught herself quickly, clearing her throat before speaking up, “Sorry about that, I appreciate your faith in me, but I just don’t think I’m cut out for partnered… anything, really.”
Jen had gotten this question before, but she couldn’t really be annoyed with it: most people genuinely did not know. She sat up proudly, a little smile appearing on her lips, “It’s a martial art that originated in Brazil, actually. It’s very acrobatic, like there’s a lot of jumps, kicks, flips handstands; the idea is to keep moving and make it so your opponent can’t predict your next action. In action, it looks a lot like break dancing. I’d give you a demonstration, but I’m pretty sure it’s frowned upon to do impromptu martial arts demonstrations in the middle of a restaurant!”
The dhampir laughed a little, but then her expression mellowed out a bit more, “Honestly, I took it up because I was bullied a lot as a kid, but I was a hot-headed child too. Got in fights all the time, ironically they stopped soon after I got better at capoeira; it helped me kind of find my center and get disciplined, you know?” Jen went for another bite, but let it hover before she took it in, “Now if I get into fights, it’s more likely because I’m defending someone else.”
“So Raven, since I’m new here and you seem to know this city pretty well, what’s there to do around here? Kamina seems pretty active, but it never hurts to ask a local.”
Okay, she’s really uncomfortable to talk about it. Raven immediately after that, dismissed the subject.
“No worries. That’s good enough info for me to hear. You don’t have to say any more.” She rather not poke at Jen any further about it. However, she began to think that maybe this rather secretive reason is because of something that could be very obvious. Once again, she makes her decision to not push her any further, just for an answer that could be wrong. Anything could be possible, especially here in this town that’s rather full of surprises.
The vampire grew ecstatic that Jen tried out the white chocolate cheesecake...and liked it, especially.
“Right?!” She nearly shouted, “Don’t get me wrong, I love basically all cheesecake flavors.” she points to the white chocolate cheesecake with her fork, “But that one has always been my most favorite. I don’t know why, to be honest. I’d come to think it’s that sweet, creamy, and chocolatey goodness. Along with the whole thick texture to it that is so...delicious.” She could talk about it almost the whole day, but let’s try not to scare or bore this girl out of her wits.
She looked at Jen’s piece of the matcha passionfruit, she’s tried it before but hey, she’s not gonna turn down the offer. Who in the right mind would turn down cheesecake offerings?
“Don’t mind if I do.” Like a peck of a bird’s beak, Raven picked out a piece of the matcha passionfruit with her fork and popped it in her mouth. She savored the flavor before swallowing, and licked her lips, “You made a pretty good choice on your cheesecake. Are you into exotic flavors and all?”
Raven gave out a smile, “Why thank you. You know, you’d be surprised at how a very passionate and fiery Spanish dance is very known in Japan. Did you know that there are more Flamenco academies here, than there are in Spain?”
She caught the slight choke and throat clearing from Jen. The vampire couldn’t help but giggle, "You’re just like me, then. Not really ready for a partner, at the moment. If not, for a while.” Another piece of white chocolate was placed in her mouth, after that. Raven has her reasons, and she’s sure that Jen probably has hers. Best not to ask any questions and leave it at that.
Capoeira sounds exciting; a dance yet, a martial art. It’s rather fascinating how two sorts of exercises can be combined into one, forming a physical art. Raven laughed about the demonstration idea. She’s right though, it’s probably best not to do it in here. Though she would love seeing it, hopefully another time.
When Jen explained about some parts of her childhood, or at least about what she was like back then, Raven couldn’t really imagine it. Both of their childhoods were very different, so she couldn’t exactly relate. All she could do is nod and try to understand,
“Well at least you know how to fight. I can somewhat self-defend but, haven’t exactly been in those kinds of cases.” She shrugged.
It’s true, she knows much about Kamina. She’s lived here her whole life. If anything, she knows exactly where every spot is without having the need to ask for directions. At least she should.
“Well Jen, there’s a lot of places and a lot of activities. Some I barely keep track with but definitely, I know some things. This town is divided into many districts; business which is where we are, entertainment, classical, the central part of town, the suburbs, old industrial and...” she slightly blushed, “The red light district.” She fold her arms together and changed crosses with her legs, giving herself a moment to think on how to explain the places and activities.
“Like for example, aside from the dance studio, there are concerts that usually happen here at the entertainment district. We have a couple of bars and nightclubs, I usually am at one of the nightclubs so if you happen to be a party person, or just sit around for the aesthetic, you’ll more than likely see me there.”
Taking care of that district, Raven continued on, “Now the classical district, if you’re into the whole tourist stuff and sightseeings, that’s definitely a good spot. Many museums, there’s a zoo, aquarium, the opera house and all.” It’s not exactly one of the vampire’s favorite districts, but she goes there sometimes for relaxation. The art gallery or the opera house are the usual places she goes to, since the art and music is good and soothing for the soul. So that sort of entertainment is a perfect getaway.
“If you’re very much into history, there’s the old part of Kamina. I’m very familiar with that place. There’s always tours over there that takes you around, talking about the town so you can get some historical knowledge of the place.” Definitely not one of Raven’s favorite spots to go to. It’s not that she dislikes the area, it’s just too many memories and time to move on. Secretly, she sometimes visits that part of town for some good memories.
“The residences and even a carnival happens to be in the suburb area. Old industrial is just mainly abandoned and haunted places.” Did she dare mention about the red light district? It’s a no choice from here, “Red light is...well the explicit area. Lots of vulgar events happen there. I don’t need to go into many details for that one.” She grew embarrassed talking about it. The tinge of pink on her cheeks reddened.
“As for the central part, that’s mainly the public areas like pools, parks, hospitality, church and you know things for the community. I don’t visit that area except maybe the park and the pool. Pool definitely.” A nice dip in one would be great after heating up and trying to avoid talking about the red light district. “But yeah, that’s mainly what happens in Kamina. Unless, you’d like to know about what’s outside Kamina.”
